It’s not every day you can lay claim to being kicked out of a recording studio a day early because Beyonce and Jay-Z decided to drop in, but that’s exactly what happened to Adelaide singer-songwriter, Chloe Castledine.
“I was lucky enough to borrow Guy Sebastian’s band for my EP, but while I was recording my vocals, my session got cut short – for Bey and Jay!” Chloe explained with a laugh.
A local Adelaide singer, songwriter, session vocalist and creative director, Chloe’s first singing experience was on Channel Nine’s Star Struck at the age of sixteen. The youngest performer to appear on the show, this opportunity paved the way for Chloe in a future of music.
A career in song writing took flight in 2005 when director Murali K Thalluri approached her to write the theme song, ‘Don’t Forget Me’ for his feature film 2.37, which showed at major film festivals around the world, including the Cannes Film Festival in 2006. From here stemmed opportunities to continue to write for other Australian films, local artists and her own solo project, including her first EP in 2009.
In 2012, Chloe created The Cast Entertainment, a fresh new entertainment group that provides live music and acts for corporate functions, public events and venues. That same year, Chloe took on the role as Creative Director for one of Adelaide’s biggest live carols events, Civic Park Carols, which is partnered with Channel Nine and boasts crowds of more than 30,000.
“It’s been a wild ride with The Cast! An absolute highlight was playing New Year’s Eve at Glenelg last year to an enthusiastic crowd of 42,000 people,” Chloe said.
In addition to these high-profile gigs, Chloe has also been busy working on her second EP, teaming up with songwriters Zenya Bashford (Justin Timberlake) and Sam Cagney under the guidance of LA producer Krunkadelic (Soulja Boy, Jennifer Hudson, Sean Paul, Nelly Furtado).
Songs that are now ready to be shared with the world.
“I’m so excited to be bringing this new music to new audiences at the 2017 Adelaide Fringe Festival,” Chloe explained.
“A hybrid of funk, neo soul, RnB and pop” is what we can expect at Chloe’s 3 shows, being played at Adelaide Oval this Fringe Festival.
Chloe is well known for strong vocal performances, an energetic stage presence and a light-hearted sense of humour – often poking fun at herself.
