Council launches draft Digital Strategy – Have your say!

Adelaide City Council wants your input on a new Digital Strategy being developed for Adelaide to enhance its position as a leading smart city.

“Connect Adelaide” is Council’s vision and action plan for delivering a well-connected technology smart city and will be implemented over a four year timeframe.

“Australians have always been early adopters of new technologies and are now connecting in unprecedented ways – almost all of us carry a mobile phone and half of us belong to a social media network,” said Lord Mayor Stephen Yarwood.

“With the rollout of the National Broadband Network and the recently announced Adelaide city Wi-Fi network plus the ever increasing use of social media, smart phones and other devices, the opportunity for Council to connect with its community is greater than ever.

“Adelaide City Council is committed to being a leader in harnessing new technologies and engaging with the community in decision-making, policies, services and projects,” he said.

“We also want to provide our services fairly and equally, to help our community and businesses adapt to new technologies and to make the most of new opportunities.”

“I encourage everyone to read the strategy, provide feedback and get involved by telling us what they think of the strategy – our digital future begins here!”

The draft Strategy will be open for consultation from 3rd December 2012 through to 21st December 2012.
