Sunday the 12th of February will be a day where Australia comes together Around the Campfire at the Waterside Workers Hall to discuss Indigenous health and reconciliation, while celebrating and embracing our traditional Indigenous culture.
All money raised will be to assist in the development and operation of a new health promotion program in South Australia and across Australia. The program will involve healthy food and cooking education and an annual competition for Aboriginal children and their parents in Aboriginal communities across South Australia.
The Master of Ceremonies for the event will be award-winning actress Natasha Wanganeen, who will be joined by several special guest speakers through the night including Ray Martin who will discuss reconciliation and Indigenous Australian health, and their significant importance to Australia.
Opening the event on behalf of the Kaurna people will be Jack Buckskin, with a traditional dance from Tauondi College in Port Adelaide.
New Adelaide pop-electronic-soul music sensation Electric Fields will be performing after their massive New Year’s Eve performance at Elder Park. Also performing will be emerging rock singing/songwriter/guitarist/didgeridoo player Scott Darlow from WA. He has toured Australia more times than he can remember, each tour earning him new fans while satisfying the fans made on earlier tours.

Cookbook Author, Sustainable Food Advocate and Cook and Co-Founder of Warndu (meaning “good” in Flinders Ranges Adnyamathanha language) Rebecca Sullivan will have her Native Australian inspired foods available for the crowd to enjoy. Supplying much of the fresh produce for the Warndu menu is Something Wild, owned by Daniel Motlop and Motlop brothers. Something Wild are at the forefront of supplying Indigenous food to restaurants and consumers around Australia. They have built strong relationships with Indigenous communities allowing them to supply unique produce from one of the world’s oldest cultures, which provides positive opportunities and outcomes for many rural Indigenous communities.

Items auctioned on the night will include a 7.5m wide Aboriginal mural painted by Marra Dreaming; a $1500 SA Holiday Experience voucher donated by RAA; “A Day at the Footy” with Darryl Wakelin for 4 people; and an Indigenous-inspired dinner for 8 people cooked by our catering partner Warndu‘s Rebecca Sullivan in the location of your choice. There will also be several silent auction items available to bid on including Denver Broncos signed memorabilia, holidays and accommodation, painted artwork, Indigenous carvings, wine, Hilltop Hoods memorabilia, and Warndu food baskets. Auction items will be live online for people to bid from early January.
Entry will be $40 for adults, $25 for concession. Entry will include the Warndu gourmet BBQ. Beer, wine and soft drink will also be available for purchase.
