There is a famous saying in showbiz “The show must go on” and go on it did. The cast and crew of Circus of Illusion braved the Adelaide superstorm and the broken banks of the River Torrens to erect the iconic Big Top in Bonython park and put on a spectacular show full of “How did they do that?” moments.
With an International line up including a special guest appearance all the way from Las Vegas, the Circus of Illusion could so easily be pictured playing in the Garden of Unearthly Delights during the Fringe.
With quirky and engaging acts there really is something for everyone. Mr.Gørski from Poland will captivate you with his juggling and balancing skills. Elissa Cadwell is fearless when you look to the sky in awe of her elegant performance. Duban Nickol will have you giggling uncontrollably with his clown-like antics, but most of all his trampolinist skills.
French mime artiste Stephan Le Forestier is both brilliant and quirky giving the audience a unique experience of seeing the art of mime expressed in two very different ways.
Michael Boyd had the children in the audience engaged every step of the way with plenty of opportunities for audience participation. My 10 year old son was lucky enough to be chosen to take part in one of Michael’s illusions and was still talking about how incredibly awesome it was as I tucked him into bed.
Every great circus is always lead by an extraordinary Ring Master and the Circus of Illusion is no different. New Yorker Ebon Grayman commands your full attention and keeps the others in line with his eccentric eye catching character.
From old favorites to new Illusions, this show is for anyone who believes in magic or who simply likes to be entertained by charismatic characters. There are extra activities for the audience to participate in before and after the show at an extra cost. So it is advisable to bring cash along should you wish to participate, and there is also a magic shop should you wish to take some of the magic home.
This is one of those shows that will appeal to all age groups and is a definite activity to add to the school holiday ‘to do’ list or as a fun date night. The show runs from the 30th Sept till the 23rd of October and if attending in the next few days, gum boots are totally acceptable footwear.
