Port Adelaide premiership player Chad Cornes will return to Alberton to coach the Magpies in 2016

It has been announced that ex Port Adelaide Player, Chad Cornes will be making his way back to Alberton to coach the Magpies next year.

Cornes left the Power four Years ago and played for Greater Western Sydney before becoming an assistant coach. Cornes has said that he was very pleased to be returning to Alberton.

“I’m really excited to be returning to the club I love,” Cornes said.

“Port Adelaide has such passion from the coaches to the players and their fantastic loyal supporters.

“It’s a big challenge coaching my own team and I look forward to driving this group to keep improving.”

General Manager, Football, Chris Davies said Cornes was well suited to taking on the job of coaching the young Magpies side.

“Chad, having been a line-coach at GWS for three years, has a good feel for modern coaching,” Davies said.

“He has a great knowledge of what the club is about having been a Port Adelaide player for over a decade.

“We look forward to Chad challenging the playing group and driving them to become a force in the SANFL.”

Cornes will become the Magpies 39th state level coach since the club’s inception in 1870.
