The Nespresso story began with a simple but revolutionary idea: enable anyone to create the perfect cup of espresso coffee – just like a skilled barista. An unrelenting focus on innovation and R&D led to the invention of unique technology that delivers a balance between the right water temperature, quantity and speed, along with 19 bars of pressure creating the perfect cup every time.

Nespresso Grand Cru coffees are produced from an exclusive selection of the finest green coffee grown in the world. Only an estimated 1-2% of the coffee grown globally meets our specific taste and aroma profiles and our high standards of quality and sustainability. The Nespresso coffee experts at our state-of-the-art production centres in Switzerland compose a range of Grand Cru coffees with unique flavour, aroma profiles and a tantalising crema.

For over 25 years, Nespresso has grown into one of the most well recognised brands in the world of coffee; a brand focused on creating perfect experiences and moments of pleasure.

Continuous innovation and a passion for perfection results in the entire Nespresso system – from the genuine aluminum capsule, to the brewing and extraction unit – designed to work as one, delivering the perfect cup of coffee time after time.

Coffee is at the heart of all we do. Yet consumer pleasure is why we do it.

Our global network of boutiques offers an insight into the brand, providing consumers with a unique opportunity to experience Nespresso with all their senses. Visit one of our boutiques whether it is in New York, Paris, Shanghai, Brussels, Sydney or Munich for the ultimate coffee experience. We now have over 215 boutiques and look forward to Adelaide becoming our latest addition.

Very Adelaide. Very Chic. Very Nespresso.
Very soon.

Gorman is the latest Australian designer label to open their stylish boutique on the ever growing Rundle Street, which is fast becoming Adelaide’s premiere designer fashion strip.

Positioned alongside fashion giants SABA, Morrison and Sass & Bide, the popular Melbourne label opened its doors last night, Tuesday May 24 for a VIP grand opening party. Guests were treated to complimentary drinks and nibbles as well as Gorman goodie bags which included a gorgeous orange and black polka dot tee-shirt.

It was a full house, with guests packing the boutique to check out the fashions on show, which didn’t fail to impress guests. The new boutique stocks on-trend fashions with a quirky vintage twist. The fabrics are amazing and the clothing of the highest quality.

Think a mixture of rustic colours, high quality fabrics, clashing prints and textures and simple silhouettes with unique fabrication. Highlighting winter knits, vibrant silk blouses, quality leather, sequins and vintage inspired ankle boots.

Gorman has a rustic aesthetic complete with old-school décor featured throughout the boutique. The clothing is displayed on old copper piping suspended at different heights from the ceiling, disheveled antique books stacked on shelves and old wooden tennis rackets decorating the walls. The visual merchandising successfully compliments the fashions on show.

I absolutely love the clothing on offer from this gorgeous label. Gorman is the perfect place to update your winter wardrobe! If you haven’t already, pay the lovely girls at Gorman a visit and check out the latest label to join the Rundle Street fashion precinct! With 20% off dresses at the moment, there is no better excuse!

FREE!

Dan Wright has been in search of the perfect wave since he first waxed a board. He’s also been in search of the perfect beer.

He couldn’t control the waves. But he could have a tackle at the beer side of things. Being a brewer, after all.

So he did.

Swell Brewing Co. is the result. Originally brewed in the back shed of he and his winemaker wife Corrina’s vineyard in McLaren Vale, the beer is “quite a good drop” says Dan.

Two beers – a pale ale and a golden ale. Preservative and artificial additive free. 500ml bottles. It is, Dan says, “the boardriders beer”.

“Swell beer is bottle conditioned so it has a cloudy appearance and a small amount of sediment on the bottom of each bottle.”

“We’d like people to pour it into a glass – something of a lost art with the increase in bottled and canned beers,” says Dan. “But you can drink it straight rom the bottle if you like.”

The pale ale is in the style of American Pale Ale, full flavoured, with a generously bitter finish. Floral and citrus aromas combine with a complex malty backbone.

The golden ale is lighter in style, and is perfect as an easy drinking beer with its moderate bitterness and maltiness. RRP $25 per 4 pack.

SWELL LAUNCH @ ADELAIDE CENTRAL MARKET

TONIGHT 5-8.30pm. South West Corner of the market (near Zuma). Free tastings and Swell beer battered fish’n’chips from Paul’s Seafood on Gouger.

Swell is available direct from Dan via www.swellbeer.com.au, and from a growing list of very cool retailers and restaurants including The Edinburgh and The Barn Bistro in McLaren Vale.

Or wanted to tell people about a fantastic place but couldn’t remember where it was? The Picture Adelaide for iPhone App could be the answer!

Available free from the App Store, users can photograph anything they love, would like to improve or create in the city, add their comments and upload it to a city map.

“The new App means that people can send us their ideas as they think of them while they’re walking around the city and take photos of what they love as they pass by their favourite spots,” Lord Mayor Stephen Yarwood said.

“It makes it so easy for everyone to have a say in planning the city’s future.”

The App is part of Adelaide City Council’s Picture Adelaide campaign which encourages South Australians to get involved in creating their city.

People are encouraged to make as many suggestions as they like –Council is keen to hear all ideas!

Picture Adelaide was launched in April and has already received around 750 submissions. The Central Market and the Park Lands are emerging as favourite places and according to some, Rundle Lantern “is exactly what Adelaide needs more of”. The Northern lights of the Adelaide Festival were also a hit and many people are keen to see the development of the Riverbank Precinct.

“There have been some exciting ideas about what people want to create in the city,” Stephen said.

“People love the street art that’s being created on Council walls and want to see more of it, and putting cafes and bars in our laneways is a popular idea. There’s even a call for dragon boat races on the Torrens!”

Other themes emerging are creating tram routes around the city, areas that are car-free and more cycling lanes.

Ideas can also be submitted online at www.pictureadelaide.com.au . There is a map pin-pointing the locations of all suggestions and visitors can view other ideas.

Another way to submit ideas is via the Picture Adelaide postcards which can be found at the Adelaide City Council customer centre, city libraries, city community centres, UParks, the Aquatic Centre and Golf Course, as well as in hundreds of cafés, restaurants and other places in the city. Posting them back is free.

The ideas received will help to guide the future of Adelaide and inform major planning projects including the 2012-2016 Strategic Plan.

On the eve of the British Royal Wedding, a touch of royalty arrived on Rundle Street last night for the launch of Adelaide’s most exciting new Jewellery store, Aurum.

Aurum, the Latin translation for “gold”, is the destination for chic, high quality gold, sterling silver and natural gemstone jewellery, and offers handpicked pieces from around the world including Italy, Germany, Denmark, Mexico, Australia and more.

Sister store to Casa D’Oro; Italian for “house of gold” on King William Road, Aurum showcased their stunning collections of modern gemstones crafted in the rarest silver and gold settings.

The Rundle Street store came alive on Thursday, April 28 with flowing champagne and beautiful canapés as Aurum owner and master jeweler, Brigitte Zollo launched the boutique jewellery store in style!

Aurum was also delighted to introduce pieces by Danish Crown Jeweller Ole Lynggaard, the official jeweler to Crown Princess Mary and the Danish Royal family, which is offered exclusively to Aurum. Ole Lynggaard also sponsored a calf skin wrist wrap which was given away to a lucky raffle winner on the night.

The gorgeous boutique style store offers a large variety of unique pieces from 20 stunning jewellery ranges. Amongst the Aurum designers is commissioned local Adelaide jeweler Sarah Green who is thrilled to be working for the exciting new store.

“Aurum brings high quality sterling silver and gemstone jewellery to Adelaide in designs it hasn’t seen before. We’ve sourced jewellery from around the world focussing on the best in materials, unique design and craftsmanship”, says Sarah.

“When choosing the jewellery for Aurum, Brigitte made it her mission to bring exclusive brands and makers such as Ole Lynggaard to Adelaide. We aimed to fill a gap in the current market with our mens selection, having made some of our own pieces because it just isn’t available or easy to find in Adelaide.”

Green showcased several pieces in the lavish store, including stunning geometric chunky men’s rings which were among my favorites of the night!

Situated on Adelaide’s best shopping strip Aurum presents a jewellery experience like no other. With pieces starting from $30, priced up to $10,000, there is something for everyone!

254 Rundle Street East, Adelaide

Located in the building previously occupied by Citrus restaurant, the CIBO team has been working around the clock to open its 16th Adelaide store – taking the total number to 18 with two stores in Brisbane.

CIBO Espresso director Roberto Cardone says cycling and espresso are synonymous with the Italian lifestyle, so it was vital for the Hutt Street store to be ready for the Santos Tour Down Under.

“So many of our regulars are cycling enthusiasts that we knew many of those attending the Cancer Council Classic preview in the East End this Sunday would head down Hutt Street in search of a true taste of Italy,” he said.

“The historic building’s gracious verandah is perfectly suited to alfresco dining in Adelaide’s Mediterranean climate and will offer a shady retreat for Tour fans and cyclists alike.”

In fact, Hutt Street has been on CIBO Espresso’s radar as an ideal location for years.

“This streetscape is a perfect setting for CIBO Espresso and there has been a lot of interest from our customers in opening on Hutt Street over the years, but it’s simply been a matter of finding the right site on this tightly held strip,” he said.

“When this beautiful building became available we jumped at the opportunity and we wish the store owners Enrico and Orietta every success.”

The opening of CIBO Espresso on Hutt Street caps off a momentous four months for the brand that introduced espresso culture to Adelaide.

It celebrated its 10th birthday on December 28, and the Burnside Village store was named Australia’s Best Coffee Shop at the Restaurant and Catering Awards. It also opened a new, state-of-the-art pasticceria and gelateria at its Windsor Gardens headquarters where CIBO Espresso’s signature gelati, pastries and savoury dishes are all created by hand, including a mouth-watering new summer menu that is striking a chord with Adelaide.

Plans are also afoot to expand interstate, with CIBO Espresso scouring Melbourne for suitable locations.

CIBO Espresso is a classic Italian espresso bar established in Adelaide in 2000, which was born from a passion for quality Italian food and coffee. Today, CIBO Espresso has a presence in Adelaide and Brisbane with a total of 18 locations. www.ciboespresso.com.au

The first Nike retail store in Adelaide will be opened by former Crows ruckman, Rhett Biglands, on 11th December.

The first Nike retail store in Adelaide will be opened by former Crows ruckman, Rhett Biglands, on 11th December.

The exciting retail experience will be offered to consumers across three levels of Nike sportswear and equipment this is the realisation of a long-time goal for Biglands.

And, in a world first for Nike, he now becomes the first Nike sponsored athlete to open his own store!

‘Nike and I have had a very long term relationship – longer than their sponsorship department may know,’ he joked. ‘In fact, I’ve still got the first pair of Nike’s I bought when I was in my teens. In essence, I’ve had a lifelong connection to the brand. I used to get a dollar a week for my first savings account. It took me a while to save up, but I managed to get a pair of second-hand red Nike Dunks in the late 80’s off of a rich kid who got a new pair every second week. They were two sizes too big but I didn’t care because Jordan was wearing them and his famous dunk comp victory from the free throw line was in the mind of every kid in the world…’

‘Since that time, and throughout my years of purchasing second hand Nikes, through to the day I bought my first brand new pair, I’ve loved the brand – to be sponsored by Nike as an athlete was a dream come true and to now open the first flagship Nike store in Adelaide is such an honour,’ he said.

Nike stores throughout the world are renowned for their style and atmosphere – not mention being the hottest place in town when superstar Nike sponsored athletes make an appearance. Biglands has some exciting plans in place along these lines – watch this space!

Nike stores carry a huge range of exclusive items, these have not been available at retail in Adelaide prior to now.

The multi-level store situated toward the Rundle Street end of Rundle Mall offers a premium retail experience. ‘The ground level will be dedicated to product for runners and the second floor will have the latest Nike football offering as well as training gear for men and women. The third level houses sought after items from the Nike Sportswear range,’ says Biglands.

A great team specially trained by Nike and dedicated to excellence in customer service completes the package.

Nike, Adelaide -141-159 Rundle Mall, Adelaide
