TRUFFLE ADELAIDE AT THE MARKET: 6-9 AUGUST 2015

Truffle enthusiasts, foodies and the just plain curious will gather at the Adelaide Central Market when the world’s tastiest game of hide and seek, Truffle Adelaide, rolls into town from 6-9 August 2015.

The busy event program is a first for Adelaide and promises to be a highlight of the Adelaide Central Market’s 2015 culinary calendar. The event will celebrate Australia’s place as the fourth largest truffle-growing nation in the

world after France, Spain and Italy.

Adelaide Central Market Authority General Manager Aaron Brumby said Adelaide’s leading chefs would showcase truffle alongside South Australia’s best Market produce.

“From Thursday to Saturday food identities such as Simon Bryant and Callum Hann will share their truffle secrets in free cooking demonstrations launching the Market’s new community kitchen,” he said.

Market goers will also be able to hunt down ingredients for a truffle inspired dish on the one-of-a-kind Market Truffle Trail and try a range of special truffle dishes at the Market eateries. There will also be truffle to take home with a

range of truffle cheeses, oils and smallgoods highlighted throughout the celebrations.

Event Director Nigel Wood, a truffle grower himself, said truffles were an exciting new food trend.

“Australians are always curious about them and keen to try them. Our aim with Truffle Adelaide is to introduce people to the joys of the truffle, partnered with great South Australian food and drink, and what better place to do that than the Central Market, Adelaide’s food hub,” he said.

The three-course Grand Truffle Feast on Sunday, 9 August, is the star of the program. Each dish on the three course menu will feature the finest Market produce paired with truffle. From canapés on arrival to entrée, main and a cheese and truffle third course, the long table event is an absolute must. In a unique twist there will be specially commissioned truffle beer alongside SA’s finest wines on pour.

The Market is expecting thousands of curious foodies to come and experience the four-day program as the largest mountain of truffles Adelaide has ever seen is brought to town.

Adelaide’s favourite Mushroom Man at the Adelaide Central Market Marco Marinelli, who also specialises in truffles, is especially excited about the event.

“I’m looking forward to working with my chef customers to share truffle secrets so that everyone’s talking truffle,” he said.
