Calling All Young Film And Art Creatives

The City of Norwood Payneham and St Peters is calling on young people to get creative and submit entries into the 2015 Youth Short Film Festival and the Urban Youth Art + Design Exhibition.

The City of Norwood Payneham and St Peters is calling on young people to get creative and submit entries into the 2015 Youth Short Film Festival and the Urban Youth Art + Design Exhibition.

Held as part of the Council’s biennial Canvas Youth Arts and Events Program, the Short Film Festival and Art Exhibition provide an opportunity for young people aged between 12 to 25 years who live, work, study or volunteer in the Council area, to showcase their creativity to the community and win cash prizes.

The Youth Short Film Festival has been held biennially since 2009 with an aim to foster youth participation and to showcase the talents of young people in the area of short film.

Submissions into the Short Film Festival must be received by 5.00pm, Friday 18 August 2015.

All entries will be showcased at the Short Film Festival event held in the Norwood Concert Hall on Friday 18 September and will be judged by a Panel including Mayor Robert Bria, Charlie Ryan-Kane, a young experienced film-maker and international short film judge, and a representative from the Rotary Club of St Peters.

Winners will be announced and prizes awarded on the night, with the $1000 prize for Best Entry donated by the Rotary Club of St Peters. Additional $500 prizes will be awarded for three age categories (12 – 15 years, 16 – 19 years and 20 – 25 years).

Urban Youth Art + Design Exhibition

The Urban Youth Art + Design Exhibition calls on the imagination and creativity of youth to artistically express themselves and the ideas, trends and inspirations relevant to modern life as a young person in our community.

Artworks may be submitted in 2D format (painting, illustration, photography, graphics, mixed media etc) or 3D format (sculpture, jewellery, textiles etc). Entries close at 5.00pm, Friday 28 August 2015 and must include a photograph of the artwork to be displayed in the exhibition.

The Urban Youth Art + Design Exhibition will be on display from 2 – 16 October 2015 at the St Peters Town Hall Complex, 101 Payneham Road, St Peters. The artworks will be judged by a selection panel and winners notified by Tuesday 13 October 2015, with $500 awarded to the overall winner, $150 for the People’s Choice Award, and subsequent prizes in age categories for both 2D and 3D artworks.
