Now in its 16th year, the South Australian Screen Awards (or SASAs) exhibit, celebrate, support and promote South Australian talent through the presentation of 20 awards encompassing short film, online media, feature film and emerging local talent.

The awards recognise excellence and innovation across the genre and craft categories including best drama, documentary, animation, cinematography, production design, web series and more. Excellent cash prizes are awarded as well as outstanding equipment, hire and gift packages.

“With 2014 being such a brilliant year for South Australian filmmaking this is going to be the best ever South Australian Screen Awards. The SASAs play an important role in bringing to the forefront the next generation to watch with their shorts.  Many past recipients who once entered winning shorts are now internationally acclaimed feature filmmakers and this year’s feature category will be a very exciting field indeed,” said Media Resource Centre’s Director, Gail Kovatseff.

The SASAs are the leading light of screen industry awards in South Australia and have resulted in an impressive number and quality entries over recent years and growing attendance by the film industry’s brightest and best at the award’s annual gala and screening program that runs for a week following the event. The screening program showcases all nominated films and filmmakers across both the craft and genre categories.

With the phenomenal amount of recognition South Australian filmmakers continue to receive in festivals around Australia and internationally, it is anticipated that the standard of entries this year will again be very competitive.

Highlights out of the 2014 SASAs include winners of SASA Best Direction and internet sensations Danny and Michael Philippou, multi-award winner and SASA Best Feature 52 Tuesdays, and Best Short winner Welcome to Iron Knob receiving national and international accolades.

Earlybird entry deadline is Thursday 19th February with an extended deadline of Friday 13th March.

An entry fee is payable at the time of entry.
Earlybird fee is $55 (shorts/online) and $65 (features).
Extended deadline fee is $65 (shorts/online) and $75 (features).
MRC members receive a 25% discount on all fees.

SASA Gala Awards night will be held on Friday 15th May 2015. A public screening programme of the nominated films will screen 16-24 May 2015 at the Mercury Cinema.
