Crown making, walking the red carpet, photos with the queen and before-show entertainment: this family gala had it all and so much more. My co reviewer Mr 10 was in heaven before the curtain even lifted and as the band began to play, excited children bounced in their seats and laughter filled the theatre when the hosts hit the stage. Ali McGregor  in a Gorilla suit and Eddie Perfect as a Teddy Bear. The audience were treated to a Jungle Book medley, followed by a line up of Cabaret performers from:-
Briefs – Close Encounters
Eddie Bannon- ABC Adelaide
Michaela Burger- Brel The Immoral Troubadour
Michael Griffiths- Lucky: Songs by Kylie
Michael Roulston & Sarah-Louise Young- Songs for Lovers ( and Other Idiots)
Young Adelaide Voices Junior Choir

The line up of acts were both hilarious and interactive. I mean, let’s face it, who doesn’t love a good sing a long to Sound of Music or clapping along while Captain Kit juggles neon lighted Hula Hoops in his green sequin short shorts and psychedelic leggings with his bright pink mankini. The best thing about the show was just how family friendly it was, with something for every age and the celebration of the absolutely wonderful Something on Saturdays program which celebrates its 40th Birthday this year.

From tricks to songs to a story told like no other this hour long show had everyone engaged from start to finish with flamboyant hosts who are nothing less than incredible, performers who delivered such superb entertainment. The audience even each left with a really fun present. A fantastic afternoon.

Mr 10 gives the Family Gala 5 stars
I also give it 5 stars
