Globally there were over 4 million first day pre-orders logged for the new phones, according to Apple, and with analysts expecting up to 10 million units sold in the first weekend, lining up outside stores may be the best chance consumers have of receiving a handset on Friday.

Airtasker has released the following info regarding iPhone 6 queue tasks on its platform:

  • Number of iPhone 6 queue tasks posted: 215
  • Average price per assigned iPhone 6 queue task: $163.93
  • Average wait time (assume they will get the iPhone at 12noon): 10.5 Hours

“Airtasker has been growing rapidly as more Australians discover that you can outsource any chores – including lining up for the latest gadgets – to friendly workers for an affordable price,” said Airtasker CEO Tim Fung.

Launched in February 2012 as one of the pioneers of the “collaborative consumption” movement in Australia, Airtasker is the creation of web entrepreneurs Tim Fung and Jonathan Lui.  It has over 150,000 community members and generates Australian jobs worth more than $8 million per year.
