Brace Yourself; The New IKEA Catalogue Goes Out This Weekend

It’s the the showbag guide, but for adults.

Everyone knows that IKEA ad with the lady who races to her car screaming at her husband and making ‘woooop’ noises as they leave the car park. Not a day goes past where you don’t actually see that happening at IKEA. Sometimes you see parents who have tricked their kids into a hour at the ball crawl and they’re off to have some time to themselves doing it. Other times, it’s because you found something ex-display in the ‘As Is’ section and fought off some other tight-arse for the couch missing all of it’s cushions. But you know, you’ve got a bargain.

Still, the most captivating thing about going to IKEA, aside from all the colourful soft toys in the kids section, is seeing their styled small apartments and giggling at the idea of living in such a confined space in Australia. Nonetheless, it definitely opens your eyes to the possibilities with space, and how you should look to design. The IKEA visual merchandisers are just great at the jobs. We don’t know if people tell them enough…

Anyway, it’s that time of year again (not the Royal Show, not Footy Finals, not Spring) when the IKEA Catalogue gets released. Now, print is most certainly dying but you’d have to say this is probably one of the most well-read magazines in the state. Expect to see limited edition capsule collections such as the must have IKEA PS and SÄLLSKAP collections. Food and time spent creating in the kitchen remains a focus for the year at IKEA.

IKEA Adelaide Store Manager, Sarah Marling said the 2017 Catalogue showcases the very best of IKEA while also providing just a little bit more background into the days and lives of IKEA faces from around the world.

“This Catalogue isn’t about the consumer – it’s about the people. There are no expectations or rules with how to style or use IKEA products throughout the home. We’re creating home solutions to make the everyday just that little bit easier for everyone,” Sarah said.|

“We all live differently. It’s about celebrating those differences and making your home as comfortable and user friendly as possible – no matter how big or small your home may be. We think this Catalogue highlights some of the best storage, living and cooking solutions out there.”

“Whether it’s making a meal for one or making a meal for many, we want to bring people together – and that is often done best in the kitchen,” Sarah said.

To celebrate the launch in store, IKEA Adelaide will also be filling this weekend full of fun and free interactive activities. Families are invited to join in with a live cooking demo on Saturday from 11am, showcasing the delicious tastes of Sweden, as well as taking away some handy styling tips with a series of free styling workshops.

The kids will go wild for free balloon twisting, creative kids activities and IKEA food tastings – from 12pm to 3pm each day PLUS there will be kids cupcake decorating workshops with Adelaide’s own ‘Little Miss Cupcake’ Jenna Marie.

You’ll not only get to see the exciting new products that IKEA has to offer, but you’ll have a great time while you’re there!
