Bowerbird Kicks Off Your Weekend In Style…

There are workshops, demos and over 150 stalls featuring unique high quality designer wares, not to mention the Long Bar and gourmet food… Weekend sorted!

It feels like we have been waiting forever, but only because we have been so excited to get amongst the Bowerbird action! And it all kicks off today…

The epic market experience opens its door at the Wayville Pavilion at the Adelaide Showgrounds from 2pm today, and they have just announced even more action…

Say hello to Speaker’s Corner! Get in the know as you experience short talks by local designers and design industry people, to intrigue, inform and inspire you!

Join Daniel To and Emma Aiston (DANIEL EMMA/The Jam Factory), Merri Cranswick (Well Made), Ken Long (Adelaide Sustainable Building Network), Elizabeth Donaldson (Brick+Mortar Creative), Jules Pieda (Koush Design), plus Bowerbird’s very own Jane Barwick (Bowerbird), for their thoughts and insights on curating, commissioning, creative communities, interior style, the Living Building Challenge, and Building Bowerbird.

Talks run hourly on Saturday May 7, from 10.30am to 3.30pm. Check out the full program here.

There will also be plenty of workshops and demos to keep you busy! Learn, have fun and try something new as part of their workshop program! This very special element of Bowerbird is offered (almost) entirely free of charge across the three days, for people of all ages, from kids to fully-fledged grownups.

And, for the first time this year, Bowerbird have partnered with Adelaide florist Bella In Bloom to offer a fun way for you to create your very own unique floral Mother’s Day gift. Sign up for one of their Flower Crown Workshops on Saturday and Sunday morning at the special Bowerbird rate of $25 per person. Why not bring your mum and spend an hour making crowns together! Check out more here.

In celebration of their venue they have created a new Long Bar and invited some of South Australia’s great artisan drink creators to join them for tastings! Meet the makers behind Antipodes Gin Co (Australia’s first certified organic gin), Three Oaks Cider, Hither & Yon Wines and Sin-ko-nah Tonic Syrup (a bittersweet mixer infused with cinchona bark, juniper and fresh citrus).

You can drop by the bar at any time throughout their opening hours to sample their wares, and buy a bottle to take away.

FYI they have also extended their regular bar trading hours so that you can enjoy a relaxed glass across the weekend. The bar is open Friday 5pm to 8.30pm, Saturday and Sunday 11.30am to 4.30pm.

So where can you hit up all of this market action? Well best known as ‘the show bag hall’ at the Royal Adelaide Show, Wayville Pavilion is in the centre of the Adelaide Showground, just a few moments walk from their old home at the Stirling Angus. If you’re entering the Showground on foot they recommend coming in via the Ridley Gate off Goodwood Road. Turn left in the atrium at the big sign. For parking, there are four parking areas at the showground, accessible off Rose Terrace (for the closest parking to Wayville Pavilion) or Leader Street. In case you get lost, there will be signs up outside of the Stirling Angus Pavilion leading you to their new nest! There is a host of public transport to the Adelaide Showground too.
