Walking through Adelaide’s sumptuous Botanic Gardens is an event in itself for some and there have been plenty of incredible weddings held there with probably several thousand South Australian’s having exchanged their vows within the grounds. But during May this year, as part of Tasting Australia, the Botanic Gardens Restaurant teamed up with The Perennial in San Francisco, to deliver a truly unique experience which is now a finalist in the Australian Event Awards for 2016.
To jog your memory a bit (or in case you missed it), Chef Paul Baker of Botanic Gardens Restaurant and Anthony Myint of The Perrenial brought their similar food philosophies together for one magical degustation set amongst the gardens and paired with South Australian, French and Hungarian wines. The events team from the Botanical Gardens Restaurant, set up stunning table arrangements, complete with locally sourced herb garden centrepieces, under a leafy archway of the 150 year old Moreton Bay fig trees lining Murdoch Avenue in the Gardens.
It was pretty bloody special. So much so that the evening, as an example of the outstanding work by the Restaurant, has earned them a nomination in the Best Product or Service category in the country.
For those who are uninitiated, the Australian Event Awards recognises the best events in Australia and achievements in the industry by Australians around the world, regardless of event size or audience. That Tasting Australia degustation and the Botanic Gardens Restaurant Adelaide are also nominated in the publically voted Australia’s Favourite Event. Voting opens on Thursday 25 August and votes can be cast via www.eventawards.com.au.
Winners of the Australian Event Awards will be announced at the Novotel Twin Waters Resort on
the Sunshine Coast on 21 September. Sounds ritzy.
