Family-owned Adelaide Hills winery Bird in Hand has opened its restaurant, The Gallery, in the evening for what turned out to be a very popular Friday Twilight series. Following the success of its recent series of Friday Twilight dinners, Bird in Hand winery will be opening The Gallery every single Friday evening.
The Bird in Hand Cellar Door will open later on these evenings as well, so you can drop in and enjoy a sneaky tasting before your meal. As the days get longer, you’ll be able to enjoy an aperitif on the terrace and watch the sun go down over the beautiful Adelaide Hills – thank you summer!
Chef de cuisine Carlos Astudillo and sous chef Ben Fenwick curate a menu based around seasonality, with fresh ingredients sourced from local growers and Bird in Hand’s own kitchen garden. A new spring menu will be announced in time for the launch of the new Friday Twilight dinners.
There is a choice of the Signature flight, a selection of complementing dishes designed to share or guests looking for an indulgent, exciting culinary experience can pre-book the Joy flight. This journey of flavours evolves over five courses, with dishes created by Carlos on a bespoke basis depending on the seasonal ingredients available at the time.
The Gallery restaurant is the culmination of everything Bird in Hand stands for: food, art, design, celebration, and of course, wine. Carlos Astudillo has crafted seasonal menus using fresh ingredients from local growers and the winery’s own kitchen garden, resulting in a diverse menu of standout dishes in an elegant, yet relaxed environment.
Upcoming dishes range from tempura mushroom with artichoke purée and asparagus, lamb shoulder with beetroot purée and snake beans, an whipped cheesecake with tangelo compote and peanut sherbet.
