Big Name Acts Gracing The Adelaide Stage

The Entertainment Centre will host a week of headlining acts – for those who are musically inclined, get ready to frequent the Adelaide Entertainment Centre this week. For a city that seems to miss quite a few of the acts that tour Australia, Adelaide locals have a reason to be excited about the big names gracing our local stages.

Kicking off with Jack Johnson, followed by Guns N’ Roses the following night before the Damon Alburn spearheaded cartoon group Gorillaz and ending with Linkin Park, a week of headlining acts in Adelaide is a great way to kick off festival season!

Monday 6th December:  Jack Johnson (supported by Tegan and Sarah)
Tuesday 7th December:  Guns N Roses (supported by Shihad and with special guests Korn)
Wednesday 8th September:  Gorillaz (supported by Little Dragon and with special guests De La Soul)
Thursday 9th December:  Linkin Park

Jack Johnson:

A Decade on from his first visit, Jack Johnson will once again be on Australian shores. With a new album under his belt, and a back catalogue of hits spanning his multi-platinum selling albums “Brushfire Fairytales”, “On and On”, “In Between Dreams” and “Sleep Through The Static”, Jack Johnson is not to be missed.

Performing classics, “Inaudible Melodies”, “Sitting Waiting Wishing”, “Flake”, “Taylor”, and “Times Like These”, along side his latest hit “You And Your Heart” Jack brings in tow his ever faithful traveling companions, and will be touring once again with long time band members Adam Topol (drums), Merlo Podlewski (bass) and Zach Gill (keys).

After selling an astonishing 18 million+ copies worldwide, Jack Johnson, is set to release his fifth studio album – the aptly titled “To The Sea” – produced by Robert Carranza, and Jack Johnson, which also features guest appearances from long time collaborator and friend G. Love, and Paula Fuga. The first taster from the record comes in the shape of single and first track on the album “You And Your Heart” – a beautiful, melodic slice of acoustic bliss, that is indicative of – and perfectly introduces – “To The Sea”, to Jack’s ever faithful, and ever growing audience.

Guns N’ Roses:

The enigmatic front man and legendary voice of Guns N’ Roses, Axl Rose will be joined by the current line up of Tommy Stinson on bass, Dizzy Reed on keys, Bumblefoot on guitar, Chris Pitman on keys + bass, DJ Ashba on guitar, Richard Fortus on rhythm guitar and Frank Ferrer on drums.

Promoter, Andrew McManus says, ‘this is a very exciting tour for us, I saw Guns N’ Roses perform in Helsinki earlier this year and I’ve never seen a bigger crowd, it was a wild concert with over 60, 000 fans going freakin’ berserk!  They were really well behaved and were there purely to give the band as much energy back as the band gave them, which believe me was a ton full!  I got goose bumps hearing the crowd leave the venue “all as one singing” Sweet Child O’ Mine.’

Guns N’ Roses last toured Australia in 2007 and have sold more than 100 million records worldwide since forming in 1985.

Joining Guns N’ Roses on this tour will be internationally renowned metal band, KoRn who have sold in excess of 30 million albums and played countless sold-out shows worldwide. KoRn have earned six (6) Grammy nominations and have won two (2) Grammies for Best Short Form Video and Best Metal Performance.

Gorillaz:

Gorillaz will be making their long awaited live debut in Australia & New Zealand – finally!  With their 2010 headline performances at Glastonbury & Coachella featuring appearances from the full Gorillaz entourage including Bashy, De La Soul, Mick Jones & Paul Simonon (The Clash), Kano, Little Dragon, Mos Def, National Orchestra for Arabic Music, Gruff Rhys, Shaun Ryder and Bobby Womack, we can’t wait to see who’ll be making the journey to Australia…

The conception of the world’s first ‘virtual band’ all began a decade ago when music virtuoso, Damon Albarn and animator Jamie Hewlitt introduced us all to the fictional world of Gorillaz. A multi-genre quartet whose virtual members include 2-D, the delightfully flighty and enigmatic singer/keyboardist; Murdoc, the mysterious and irreverent bassist and the brains behind the group; Noodle, a ten-year old Japanese martial arts expert and guitar hotshot; and Russel Hobbs, the eloquent yet somewhat unhinged Brooklyn-bred drummer.

Playing songs from all three of their critically acclaimed albums (Gorillaz, Demon Days and Plastic Beach) this landmark arena tour will include a dynamic production featuring multi-media video animation, artwork and film. As Murdoc says “A phantasmagoria of sounds, colours and assaults on the senses.”

Linkin Park:

Coming back to Australia in support of Linkin Park’s fourth studio album ‘A Thousand Suns’ on Machine Shop Recordings / Warner Music, following on from their 2007 #1 album ‘Minutes to Midnight’, the album is co-produced by Rick Rubin and Mike Shinoda, and features 15-tracks, including lead single ‘The Catalyst’, currently tearing up Australian radio.

Embarking on a European tour in October, Linkin Park’s live performances are designed to be a transformative multi-media experience, with a unique blending of music, art and extraordinary visual technology.

Fans can expect a set list offering an awesome mix of past tracks and huge hits, as well some highly-anticipated new material.

Lauded as one of the most dynamic and energetic live acts around, Linkin Park raised arena roofs and earned rave reviews during their hugely successful October 2007 national tour (despite Chester Bennington sustaining a broken wrist during an incredible Melbourne performance!).
