BIG_BASH_LEAGUEIt is a dream fixture for Adelaide Strikers supporters, with two of the biggest matches of BBL|04 to be played at Adelaide Oval.

The KFC Big Bash season will kick off at Adelaide Oval, with a blockbuster opening match against the Melbourne Stars on December 18. The Stars made a shock exit from last year’s finals series and the Adelaide Strikers, with the home ground advantage and smart off-season recruitment, will be looking to send a message to the competition that they are a force to be reckoned with in BBL|04.

Following the overwhelming success of last season’s sold-out match, the Adelaide Strikers will again ring in the New Year at Adelaide Oval. Taking on BBL|03 finalist the Hobart Hurricanes, the Striker’s latest recruit Ben Laughlin will face his old team for the first time and the Adelaide Strikers will be looking to carry on the magic form they experienced in front of a capacity crowd last New Year’s Eve.

The Adelaide Strikers will also host last year’s winner, the Perth Scorchers, on January 6 before taking on the Sydney Thunder in their final home match on January 12.

There will be more concentrated action this season with the BBL|04 window shortened by a week (42 days compared to 50 days in 2013-14) so that the League fits neatly within the school holiday period to give families the best chance to attend.

The Adelaide Strikers sold out all general admission tickets in BBL|03 and with a 55,000 seat Adelaide Oval now available, Adelaide Strikers’ General Manager Bronwyn Klei believes there is plenty for Strikers fans to get excited about.

“Having the opening match of the season cements Adelaide Oval’s position as one of the premier cricket venues in Australia. With one of the most passionate home crowds in Australia, we can’t wait to play in front of a packed stadium and to set our season up with a win,” said Klei.

“New Year’s Eve at Adelaide Oval was a major highlight for us last season. It was a blockbuster game and our players definitely performed at their absolute best in front of a pumping Adelaide crowd.

“After seeing some of the sold-out matches this football season at Adelaide Oval, I can’t wait to see a full stadium enjoying the warmer weather and the best entertainment this summer has to offer.”
