Beef, Butter, Truffles and Wine This Friday! #BBTW

Prepare to beef it up at Adelaide Central Market this Friday July 6th when a group of Australia’s most talented food and wine producers join together for #BBTW – Beef, Butter, Truffles and Wine.

Rockstar butter maker Pepe Saya whose butter graces the tables of some of Australia’s finest restaurants, will join with Truffle growing legend Duncan Garvey, meat-meister Richard Gunner and McLaren Vale winemaker Corrina Wright to highlight the symbiotic relationship between their four unique flavours.

The free pop-up tasting coincides with the fresh truffle season and the release of Duncan and Pepe’s fresh truffle butter. It will also be a chance for people to taste the newly released 2012 white wines from Oliver’s Taranga including Fiano and Vermentino.

“Being the middle of winter we’ll also be pouring some of our favourite reds including Sagrantino, Grenache and Shiraz,” Corrina said.

Richard Gunner said the tasting would also be a chance for him to showcase flat iron steak – also known as feather or oysterblade steak.

“It is a denuded oysterblade with all the sinew and seams removed that has been proven by consumer research to be as tender as scotch fillet. In our opinion it has superior flavour to scotch and should be a fine match with the truffle butter,”

Truffle grower Duncan Garvey agrees the fresh cultured truffle butter is an ideal match for steak.

“When melted over a sizzling steak theflavour is to die for, it is food from the truffle gods,” he said.

Event convener Amanda James-Pritchard, Kooki PR said the tasting is a great opportunity to meet some of Australia’s finest food producers.

“It is such a pleasure to bring these artisan producers together who have a respect for provenance, transparency, and each other.”

“You can get involved in the lead up and during the event by tweeting to the participants using the hashtag #BBTW.”
