Martin Lazarevic, General Manager, National Crime Check explains “The whole process introduces pioneering proof of identity technology in a secure online environment which has become so easy that you can do your police check anywhere, anytime, as long as you have access to a smartphone, tablet, laptop or desktop connected to the internet.
With a few finger strokes, you can fill in your details and use a webcam to show your 100 points of identity. Although it is an Australian first, this technology is already being embraced overseas by businesses such as AirBnB and United Airlines.”
Employers are increasing their vulnerability and susceptibility for being taken advantage of if they do not check their potential employee’s criminal records and social media personas. Statistics obtained by the Australian Federal Police indicate that, “70 percent of business fraud losses are from staff and former staff, costing business’ over 1.5 billion a year. The Australian Retailers Association estimates 55 percent of stock shrinkage relates to employee theft.”[1]
