TDUWith the January just around the corner, the Tour Down Under will soon be racing into town and Australian Mountain Bike Champion Daniel McConnell will be joining in the event.

Tourism Minister Leon Bignell confirmed the team line up today and welcomed the news that the 2014 Commonwealth Games team member would be competing at the event.

“Daniel has performed very well in the Mountain Bike discipline, and with his previous road cycling experience we’re looking forward to seeing him as part of the Trek Factory Racing team in Adelaide,” he said.

“Trek Factory Racing has performed well at the Santos Tour Down Under, including claiming the Winning Team Classification in 2012 and 2013.”

Daniel said he was excited to be returning to the Santos Tour Down Under, having first debuted at the race in 2006.

“This is super exciting for me – I competed at the event back in 2006,” he said.

“It was incredibly hot, but more than anything I remember the crowds in and around Adelaide, they were just phenomenal.

Trek Factory Racing will boast 27 riders of 14 different nationalities in 2015, making it one of the most international teams on the WorldTour.

The Santos Tour Down Under is Australia’s premier international cycling race and will be staged in and around Adelaide, from 17 to 25 January 2015.

The Team Presentation on January 17 will begin at 6pm and be followed by a free concert at 7.30pm featuring ARIA-award winning group Sheppard.
