XeroGone are the days of the clunky desktop software and the old spreadsheet – Aussie small businesses are looking to become more mobile and do their accounting on the go.

A new study by online accounting provider Xero has revealed that Australian small businesses are adopting cloud accounting software much faster than other countries.

Compared to only 11 per cent of businesses around the world, 14 per cent of Australian companies are already managing their accounts using cloud software.

Xero Australia Managing Director Chris Ridd said the results highlighted the increasing importance that small businesses worldwide are placing on mobility, ease of use and scalability of their business management software.

“The adoption of cloud accounting software is happening at a remarkable rate, especially here in Australia, with three out of five small businesses set to manage their accounts in the cloud by this time next year,” Mr Ridd said.

Of the Aussie businesses that are not currently using cloud software, 46 per cent said they are looking to convert in the next 12 months, compared to 39 per cent globally.
