AirAsia Asiafest 2014 attracted an incredible response, with thousands of patrons visiting Rymill Park over the weekend 4-5th October, to get their taste of Asia.

“We are absolutely thrilled with the positive reaction and overwhelming attendance for the first ever AirAsia Asiafest,” says AirAsia Asiafest Event Manager – Adriana Michael.

Within the one festival were several mini festivals, shining the spotlight on five Asian countries – China, Thailand, Korea, Japan and Vietnam. The open-air marketplace allowed patrons to go on a cultural journey – emulating the experience as though they were visiting each country itself. Surrounded by unique entertainment, festivalgoers were treated to traditional drumming, dancing, authentic food, art, massage and various martial arts.

Being a first for Adelaide, a crowd favourite of the festival featured the art of Japanese Sumo Wrestling direct from Japan, with sell out shows on both days.

For those who couldn’t get enough, ‘Miss Lee’s Laundry & Bar’ was also a hit, with the street- style vendors serving up food and music all through the night. The team behind the bar also created the famous Royal Croquet Club and Little Miss Miami.

However the amazing weather that graced the first two days of the festival unfortunately did not stick around for the third and final day.

“Regrettably due to severe weather warnings, the final day of AirAsia ASIAFEST had to be cancelled. Safety is always our foremost concern for all patrons and staff involved and because of this, we had to make this difficult decision,” says AirAsia ASIAFEST Event Manager – Adriana Michael.

AirAsia Asiafest will return in 2015 with dates and location to be announced in due course.
