Another Huge International Tour Is Coming To Adelaide

One of the best touring ensembles in the world has just added Adelaide to their touring calendar this September. Get your credit card at the ready…

For years (and we mean YEARS!) Adelaide has had a an inferiority complex when it comes to international touring music shows. All the whinging, and whining and ‘Come To Adelaide’ petitions used to be a right of passage of sorts, where you gain credit amongst your friends by complaining as opposed to actually knowing anything about music.

Some people still do this, and feel vindicated. If you know one of those people, it’s best you disassociate yourself with them. Pronto. And then go and get yourself a ticket to one of the most exciting touring acts going around.

Their live show is like Big Day Out, Splendour In The Grass, Coachella and a big band show all rolled into one. Australia went crazy when Postmodern Jukebox first toured in 2015, to sold out crowds we might add. They’re just coming off the back of a 75-city sold-out European run in June 2016 and just last month announced a much-anticipated 45-date North American tour from Sept. to Nov. 2016, which will include their first-ever performance at Radio City Music Hall in New York City.

So you should get the idea that they’re a really big deal. Want to know why? Imagine a roster of over 70 world class rotating members re-imagining the most popular songs ever written. Like this:

You get the idea. These guys are something else. Entertainment Weekly wrote, “Scott Bradlee’s group is known for retro-fying modern hit songs into viral success.” Yahoo! Music added, “if you’ve been on YouTube in the last couple of years, then you’re familiar with the everything-new-is-old-again brilliance of the viral phenomenon known as Postmodern Jukebox.”

Scott Bradlee, the creator and mastermind behind the group, has turned Postmodern Jukebox into a juggernaut by building an incredible grassroots movement around the act. He continues to pick the songs, create the arrangements and shows, and put together the casts for every tour – which includes several notable names alongside some phenomenal “undiscovered” talent. The group releases a new video every week, each one shot in the casual environment of Bradlee’s living room.

“I posted the first video in 2009,” recalls Bradlee. “I was broke and living in Queens, NY. Seven years later, we’ve amassed 2 million subscribers, we’ve sold out shows across four continents and we’ve become a showcase for an incredible group of performers. Every single one of our cast members has unique superpowers and I take pride in putting together the best combination of abilities and personalities to create an amazing experience for our fans. We want them to escape reality and join us for the most sensational 1920s party this side of The Great Gatsby. We want them to experience what it was like to be at the New Years’ Eve show that Sinatra would have hosted in the 1940s. We want them to feel the excitement of hearing the greats of Motown live and up close… and a Postmodern Jukebox show is the only place you can experience all of this and more in one night.”

So what are you waiting for? Grab a ticket to see them at The Thebarton Theatre on Saturday, 17 September now via this link. And if you’re not convinced, just spend a couple of hours today on their YouTube Channel.

You’ll thank us later.
