André Rieu’s 2016 Maastricht Concert

André Rieu’s spectacular Maastricht concert is in its 12th year and features his world-famous 60-piece orchestra, sopranos, tenors and very special guests.

Events Cinemas is proud to announce that one of the world’s most popular music artists will screen his annual hometown concert nationally across Australia this July only! André Rieu is bringing his legendary annual Maastricht concert to the cinema for two unmissable shows.

Set against the stunning medieval backdrop of the town square in André Rieu’s Netherlands hometown, the spectacular Maastricht concert is in its twelfth year and features the maestro in his element, with his world-famous 60-piece Johann Strauss Orchestra, sopranos, tenors and very special guests. André promises and delivers an unforgettable musical experience full of humour, fun and emotion for all ages.

The Maastricht concerts are André Rieu’s most popular concerts of the year. In 2015, over 70,000 fans from more than 70 countries travelled to the live concerts and almost 200,000 fans attended the cinema screenings of the concert worldwide.

Last year André Rieu’s 2015 Maastricht Concert in cinemas grossed $A1.3 million in Australia from two screenings over one weekend, making it the most successful music concert ever to screen in Australian cinemas, way ahead of its nearest rival, the One Direction: Where We Are concert (which screened in 2014 and grossed $A333,910.)

Each year is set to rival the previous as Andre Rieu explains, “Every year we find ways to make my hometown concerts a unique experience for our audiences – the people who are there and also those who watch us in the cinemas.  We put a lot of time, energy and love into creating something special, some Maastricht magic.”

Due to Rieu’s Australian Arena Tour, the screenings are strictly limited to two shows only with no Encore screenings as in previous years.
