ALDI Australia is now open to receiving expressions of interest for Store Assistant positions, with its expansion into South Australia fast taking shape.

The announcement comes as ALDI finalises its first round of recruitment, with 30 Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager positions being filled over the next month. The new staff will be chosen from more than 1300 applications received since ALDI launched its recruitment drive in June.

“We’re delighted to see such strong enthusiasm from the South Australian public to join the ALDI business,” said Viktor Jakupec, ALDI Managing Director – South Australia.

“As one of the country’s fastest growing retailers, ALDI is looking for enthusiastic and ambitious people to join our team. We are excited to be commencing this next round of recruitment and providing much needed job opportunities for the people of South Australia.”

ALDI primarily offers full-time and part-time permanent retail roles, distinguishing itself from other retailers where casual roles are prevalent. As part of its commitment to staff, ALDI offers paid maternity leave (18 weeks at half pay), five weeks annual leave for full-time employees and salaries that are well above industry standards.

New employees will undergo extensive training to learn the ALDI way of doing business. South Australian Store Managers will also receive two months of in-store training at one of ALDI’s existing stores on the eastern seaboard.

ALDI’s physical presence in South Australia is also progressing, with construction well underway at its Distribution Centre in Regency Park, which is due to be completed in November. The Distribution Centre will service the 20 ALDI stores expected to open in the state next year, and up to 50 stores in the coming years.

In addition to the warehouse, two stores have also commenced construction at Parafield Gardens and Seaford Heights. ALDI has added Seaton to its growing list of identified locations, with other areas of interest including Hawthorn, Mount Barker, Hallett Cove, Seaford Heights, Woodcroft, Victor Harbour, Parafield Gardens, Blakeview, St Agnes, Kilburn, Gilles Plains, Berri, Aldinga, Noarlunga, Modbury, Salisbury and the Barossa.

“Since our first store opened on the eastern seaboard in 2001, ALDI has played an important role in the Australian community,” Mr. Jakupec said.

“Our operations improve the livelihood of local businesses, create employment opportunities and deliver Australian families the best possible prices on high quality products, many of which have been made locally. We look forward to bringing this offering to South Australia and giving even more Australians the opportunity to discover the ALDI difference.”

This week Canstar Blue announced ALDI had received the Most Satisfied Customers Award in the Supermarket category for the fourth time in the last five years, a testament to the great value soon to be experienced by South Australian shoppers.
