AFF 2017: Camilla, C/MEO, Keepsake And More At BNKR And David Jones Runway

The BNKR and David Jones runways have set the precedent for the entire AFF weekend, and it’s looking to be a blast.

Friday night of the 2017 Adelaide Fashion Festival began with a bang with the BNKR show taking the lead before the David Jones runway brought things to a whole other level. BNKR featured quality, on-trend looks from four of their biggest brands, while the David Jones runway showed a massive 164 outfits.

As the models of Finders began showing off the latest designs from their newest collection, the lights dimmed and the audience hushed. The collection heralded the way for the rest of the show, full of spring colours from burnt oranges and light blues to blushing pinks, embellished with florals and pleats.

Keepsake‘s collection was as diverse as it was beautiful. Beginning with a lace wrap dress, the shoulder enhanced with a large ruffle, and ending with a form-fitting black floral dress, the collection was full of olive greens, whites, blacks and champagnes.

The baker boy hats accompanying many of the The Fifth Label outfits complimented the street-style wear well, there’s no doubt you’ll see these featured on a best-dressed list in the coming days. The stripes, denim and embroidery were features of the collection and evidence of the coming trends of 2018.

C/MEO Collective ended the show on a stunning note. The standout piece of the collection was the red ruffled dress that finished the show, hitting just above the knees and cascading down to the mid-calf, the dress was the perfect embodiment of a spring romance.

As the BNKR show ended with a bang, the David Jones runway began with an even bigger one. As Camilla‘s models stormed the stage, you could tell she had taken this collection far and beyond what we’ve seen previously. ‘From Rio, With Love’ is her latest collection and the bright, intricate patterns are eye-catching whether they’re in kaftan form, swimsuit or casual daywear.

The rest of the show proceeded with looks from Bec and Bridge, Lover, Calibre, Rebecca Vallance, Camilla and Marc, Viktoria and Woods, Paul Smith, Milea, Sunseeker, Jets, Calvin Klein, The Academy Brand, P.E. Nation, The Upside, Kitx, Alice McCall, Politix, By Johnny, Carla Zampatti, Lee Matthews, Ted Baker, Sandro, Maje, Self Portrait, Joe Black and Armani Collection. The addition of menswear brands and male models was extremely welcome to what has otherwise been a very female-centric fashion festival.

Finishing the show in a blaze of glory was Aje. The ruffles, balloon sleeves, and general extravagance brought the Victorian era into 2017. The subtle patterns and clearly though-out design worked to show the audience a cohesive collection full of wearable designs and some you’d have to save for a special occasion.

Overall, the BNKR and David Jones runways has us ready to see what the rest of Adelaide Fashion Festival beholds, with the Rural Runway event tomorrow showcasing the best of AFF surrounded by wine and food. If you’re sticking to the city life, head down to East End Social’s Vogue Wrap Party, it’s set to kick off at 1pm with the ultimate street party full of cool tunes, cocktails, food and wine. Entertainment includes a great DJ line up and pops of surprise entertainment.
