Adelaide’s Longest Lunch Returns To The Riverbank This November

Calling all food lovers! Hundreds of foodies, work colleagues and friends will converge on the Riverbank Footbridge on November 10 for Adelaide’s Longest Lunch, which remains the only event to be held on the iconic footbridge.

Out in the open air with the fresh spray of the Torrens wafting across white linen tables, the second iteration of this event will bring together some of South Australia’s finest chefs, winemakers, brewers, producers and restaurants with an estimated 750 seats available (that’s 150 more than last year!).

To add to the anticipation, two of South Australia’s top restaurants, Hill of Grace and Level 1 – Electra House, have joined the stellar line-up, which also features Andre’s Cucina, Fino Seppeltsfield, Georges on Waymouth, Osteria Oggi, Press*, Sean’s Kitchen and Ruby Red Flamingo.

Founding member of Adelaide’s Longest Lunch, Kristen Greber, said the idea behind the event is for leading chefs, winemakers and brewers to unite creating a Friday lunch to remember, while raising funds to support the State Theatre Company South Australian Foundation and Tennis SA’s Ken McGregor Foundation.

“Friday lunch is a great time for people to come together, whether you are friends, work colleagues or business clients, to share a laugh over a glass of wine and meal,” she said.

Before making their way onto the bridge, guests will enjoy canapés and drinks. During lunch, the Prince Alfred College Big Band and Cheryl Bradley Dance Studios will provide entertainment and a raffle, featuring exquisite prizes will be drawn.

The ‘all white’ dress code has been revitalised with guests asked to dress with a touch of traditional tennis glamour, in acknowledgment of the Ken McGregor Foundation, which raises funds to assist the next generation of South Australia’s tennis players. Ladies: think pleated skirts or dresses and demure cardigans, while for men it’s all about crisp white shirts and shorts, and knitted vests. Be sure to find your fanciest tennis whites (but maybe don’t include the tennis shoes).

Starting at 11:15am and finishing with an exclusive after-party in a yet-to-be-opened champagne bar (so secret it won’t be announced until the Lunch has begun), this is certainly one long lunch. With the bridge spanning 270 metres in length, Adelaide’s Longest Lunch encompasses all meanings of the word.

Tickets are still available with guests invited to buy a table seating 10 people, while individual seats have also been introduced this year. You can book your tickets or find more information here.

The presenting partner of Adelaide’s Longest Lunch is Lexus of Adelaide. McLaren Vale’s Mollydooker Wines has generously donated their sparkling wine for pre-lunch drinks, while InterContinental Adelaide has closed its banquet room kitchen to allow all the chefs to cook in one location.

This year will be the last time event organisers take-over the bridge, vowing to ensure the lunch continues as a must attend event with a change of location locked in for 2018.
