Proudly supporting Starlight Children’s Foundation and together with the Australian Hairdressing Council and its other Salon Select members, Kinky Curly Straight is taking part in an exciting new industry fundraising initiative, ‘Salon Select Smiles For Starlight’.
Every minute of every day a child is admitted to a hospital in Australia, and for thousands of these children and their families, this admission will change their lives forever. Starlight is there to brighten the lives of these seriously ill children, turning fear, pain and stress into joy, fun and laughter and now so is Kinky Curly Straight.
“Kinky Curly Straight is always up for a charity event or a fundraising campaign, and we didn’t think twice when the AHC told us about the Salon Select Smiles for Starlight. We love to use our business to be able to support people in need and we know our clients feel the same,” says Kinky Curly Straight owner, Mojca Mikic.
To celebrate and align with national Starlight Day, the ‘Salon Select Smiles for Starlight’ initiative will commence on Friday 1st May and continue for the entire month of May.
During this time, Kinky Curly Straight will be working together with other Salon Select hairdressing salons across Australia to help raise $65,000 in order to grant 10 life-changing Starlight Wishes to seriously ill children and their families. A Starlight Wish is a once-in-a-lifetime experience for a seriously ill child and their family and is the gift of hope during the toughest of times.
In order to make this incredible goal a reality, Kinky Curly Straight will be giving clients the opportunity to help spread the smiles during the month of May by simply adding $1 to any hair service at point of transaction.
Kinky Curly Straight believes that as a community, we can work towards big change to replace pain, fear and loneliness with joy, fun and laughter for the Starlight kids.
Says Mojca, “The hair industry is quite big and with the AHC rallying over 200 salons to support the initiative, we can truly achieve some impressive goals. It’s important for our industry to use access to clients (day to day and in person) to share in such activities. Thinking about the wishes that we will help grant for the Starlight kids makes us smile. We can’t wait to see what incredible wishes we get to help make a reality!”
