Everyone loves good hair. And good service. Team the two together, and you get Orbe in North Adelaide. This local business continues to kick goals in their quest to make us all feel amazing and their success is evident.
Not only has the business taken out Adelaide’s Best Hair & Beauty Salon/Spa, as announced in this week’s 2016 City Awards, but Director Sam-James Cockayne, and partners Ida Tirimacco and Joe Cimmino, keep popping up on the radar after winning this years National Visionary Award, making national finalist in AHIA Newcomer business of the Year and most recently, a nomination in the Telstra Businesswoman of the Year Awards.
Sam has also recently had her work profiled in the prestigious colour competition – the Goldwell Color Zoom competition, making it as a National Finalist. With Stockholm on the agenda if makes it through to the Internationals, it’s certainly an exciting time for her & the team.

It’s the 2016 City Awards however, which are largely peer nominated, that mean a significant deal to Sam and the team. “We are proud to consistently win awards relating to the technical aspects of hairdressing as these mean we know we are at the cutting edge of our field in hairdressing – but this is our first business award and it’s incredibly satisfying to know that the public have voted for us and this has been recognised,” said Sam after receiving her award.
The City Awards, established in 2015 by The City newspaper – part of News Corps. Messenger paper group has rapidly established itself as a prestigious honour for any business lucky enough to win an award from any of their various categories because of the rigorous judging process. With over 9000 readers voting for their favourite businesses in 20 categories in an online survey, a judging panel then select a winner from the narrow finalist field as determined by public vote.
“Supporting small business is a huge part of what we do every week in The City and these annual awards are a great way to take stock of those special people and places which make our city unique,” said Messenger Community News editor-in-chief, Jessica Leo.
