Adelaide Fringe Want You To Create Their 2017 Poster

Adelaide Fringe are looking for the next work artistic genius to brand the 2017 festival, with entries now open to artists and proud parents who might submit their child’s finger paintings.

We’ve often wondered why the Adelaide Fringe doesn’t host an ‘Archibald’ like exhibition at the State Gallery for  entries to their yearly poster competition… the quality, we’re always told, is astonishingly high so why can’t the people see said works?! Goodness knows we’d pick our own favourite, artists would get exposure, we’d probably have a few wines and everybody would win. If only we made all the decisions…

But one decision we’re glad we don’t have to make is picking the winner of this competition. Honestly, it would tear us apart to look across everyone’s work and simply choose one design that to blanket the city for months. It’s a serious prize, alongside a nice little cash incentive as well, that is worthy of only the best artworks.

So if you fancy yourself an artist, or you actually are an artist, entries are now open to the coveted Adelaide Fringe Poster Competition for 2017. And the theme is… “Made By You, For You, With You.” Which is also the rationale behind every one of Ryan Gosling’s films where he removes his shirt.

Adelaide Fringe Artistic Director & CEO Heather Croall said the panel of judges would be looking for entries that captured the exciting, magical spirit of the Fringe. So we’re thinking a poster of Ryan Gosling would be in with a good chance to be honest.

The design can be in any medium or art form such as digital, illustration, painting, sculpture, photography or street art but the final entry must be two-dimensional. Both Australian and international designers and artists are invited to submit a design and entry is free. The competition is open until Sunday, 14 August, at 5pm.
