This year the Adelaide Fashion Festival presented by Mercedes-Benz Adelaide will go to the seaside with two distinctly different events at Glenelg.
Edgy urban street-wear will go head-to-head with the latest ready-to-wear summer fashion on Saturday 24 October as the Designer Runway and Chittleborough Lane Design Market transform The Bay into a fashion lover’s dream.
City of Holdfast Bay Mayor Mr Stephen Patterson said, “People think they know Glenelg and its fashion offerings, but there’s an exciting underworld that we’re tapping into and exposing as part of the Adelaide Fashion Festival. Our two new events will provide an exciting platform for local designers who often don’t have a shopfront presence.”
The Chittleborough Lane Design Market will showcase unique street-wear by 14 emerging local designers, plus stunning new street art by Vans the Omega (often featured on Glam Adelaide’s Instagram account). Plus entry is free which is obviously a huge bonus.
Located inside the Susses Street Warehouse that back onto Chittleborough Lane you can expect The Design Market, “To be new, raw and edgy.”
You will have the chance to meet the 14 participating independent designers and buy their gear. Plus outside in the Lane, check out and be inspired by the striking new street art by Vans the Omega while you listen to music by DJ Bottle Rockets. With a licensed bar, and grab some great food, you certainly won’t go hungry or thirsty!
As the Chittleborough Lane Design Market closes for the day, the Glenelg Jetty will come alive with Designer Runway.
“You’ve never seen Glenelg Jetty like this!” Mayor Patterson said.
“A clear-roofed marquee, a crisp white floor and live music from Filip Odzak will transform Glenelg Jetty into a seaside catwalk – with the sunset providing a stunning backdrop to an inspiring collection of the latest ready-to-wear summer fashion from Angel Wings, MAN by Jeans Corp and Jophiel.”
Pre-show drinks at the Mosley Bar and Kitchen will kick off the evening at 5.30pm before the hour-long fashion parade starts at 6.30pm on the Glenelg Jetty.
