Add Your House To The Map Of Adelaide’s Best Christmas Lights

Find the best Christmas lights in Adelaide and add your house to the list, PLUS support the amazing efforts of Make-A-Wish this Christmas!

Have you got a Christmas light set up that rivals Martha May Whovier’s in the Grinch? Do you go searching your neighbourhood for lights every year, only to be disappointed by the lack of festive cheer around the streets?

This Christmas season, things will be different. Origin and Make-A-Wish® Australia have joined forces to help families locate and share the joy of their local Christmas lights displays – and at the same time help to support children and teenagers battling life-threatening illness.

The new Christmas Lights Finder website will allow people to locate brightly lit festive homes near them, upload the location and images of their own lights display, share their favourite houses, and donate to Make-A-Wish to support festive fundraising.

All the glittering homes that register on the website will be joining the fundraising effort to help make vital wishes come true, and can win $1,500 towards their electricity bill from Origin if they are judged the amongst the most festive and creative Christmas lights displays in the country.

People can donate to Make-A-Wish by placing cash in fundraising tins at participating homes or they can donate online. To help supercharge the fundraising efforts, Origin will be matching all donations made to Make-A-Wish’s Christmas Lights campaign through the Origin Christmas website!

“Christmas is a time of celebration for many, but can be a difficult time for many more,” said Donna Pidduck, Chief Marketing Officer, Origin. “By partnering with Make-A-Wish, Origin hopes together we can help make even more wishes come true and increase the scope of the tremendous, inspirational work the team does bringing joy to really sick kids.”

Make-A-Wish Acting CEO, Jo Salisbury, added, “Christmas is one of the trickiest times for fundraising. We’re always looking to start as many really sick kids and teens on their wish journey but it’s also a very busy time for everyone in the community. Through the support of Origin and our committed network of Christmas lights fundraisers, we’re looking forward to helping more children than ever experience the healing power of a wish.”

Around Australia, six families a day receive the devastating news that their child has a life-threatening illness, that’s 2,000 kids each year. Currently, Make-A-Wish are only able to reach about one quarter of these really sick kids with the healing power of a wish. Research shows that Make-A-Wish wishes complement medical treatment to give children and teenagers battling serious illness the best possible chance of survival. Make-A-Wish Australia receives no government funding – all wishes are funded by the generosity of the organisations supporters. They need your support to continue making vital wishes come true.

Origin Energy is matching donations made to Make-A-Wish through www.originxmas.com.au up to $30,000.
