Acacia Opens In Henley Beach Bringing Brunch, Lunch & Amazing Coffee To The Square

Today Henley Square saw the first doors of the redevelopment open, which we are EXCITED about, considering it’s been a long wait for locals and visitors alike! First off the rank, was Acacia. An intimate cafe located right at the zebra crossing facing The Henley Pavillion (shopping centre), Acacia brings the modern, beach vibe that the Square has been missing. Next door, Bowlsome has also quietly opened today as well, dishing up Poke-style take away for those on the go. But let’s not get distracted. Back to Acacia.

The slick interior, tiles, minimalist decor, and great tunes, bring a city twist on the airy, light, venue, which brings fresh, delicious food, juices and great coffee in to the Henley mix. It’s a completely different feel to anything that’s been in the Square before, and a welcome one at that.

Offering breakfast and lunch, you can expect to dig into a contemporary menu featuring all the breakfast necessities, plus some inspired delicacies such as the Cajun Fish Sandwich.

Breakfast, which runs from 8am to midday, includes some favourites like Scrambled Eggs With Chilli, and Grilled Field Mushroom with avocado, roast tomato, spinach, duke and toast. The rest of the earlier menu is pretty unique though, tempting our adventurous side.

Smoked Kippers with poached eggs sit on the menu alongside Guacamole (move over traditional smashed avo) with feta, mint, chilli salsa and toast. There’s also Parmesan Pan Perdu, Masa Harina & Coconut Pancakes, and 3 Nut Butter on toasted rye with salted caramel.

In the afternoon till 2:30pm you can enjoy things like slow cooked beef brisket burgers, pork belly, smoked ocean trout with pickled cucumber, grilled baby octopus, and an amazing Haloumi Salad with orange five spice balsamic.

The juices are thirst quenching, and the smoothies are delicious, but what Acacia do REALLY WELL is their coffee.

The installation of South Australia’s first Modbar machine will be a real draw card for coffee lovers, giving baristas full control to manipulate the coffee by using variable amounts of pressure.

“Modbar from La Marzocco allows you to control the pressure of the water while you’re brewing. Being modular it really does break down the barrier between the barista and the customer. The barista is right there in front of the customer. The groups are built into the bar with the machinery under the counter” owner Elisa Mercurio says.

However they will also be across alternative brewing methods, including filter for those who enjoy a light
fruitful clean, delicate brew.

Acacia is open for breakfast and lunch 7 days.

NOTE: Next to Acacia and Bowlsome, Studio Pilate is also opening on January 6th, and Melt and the fish & chip shop are due to open mid-late January.
