A Sweet Victory: Bracegirdle’s Wins Top Prize At Royal Adelaide Show

Handmade chocolate maker Adelaide’s Bracegirdle’s House of Fine Chocolate has won the top chocolate
categories at the 2015 Royal Adelaide Show for the sixth year running, crowned Champion Chocolate and Most Successful Chocolate Exhibitor.

Bracegirdle’s, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary, took out the prestigious John W Rothwell Trophy for Champion Chocolate which is awarded to the highest point scoring product in any category, and for the Most Successful Chocolate Exhibitor.

Daintree Truffle – awarded the Champion Chocolate accolade with a score of 96.5 out of a possible 100 – is made with Australian cocoa beans grown in Far North Queensland’s Daintree Rainforest. It’s a single origin dark chocolate in a truffle shape with amazing blueberry tasting notes in a ganache based filling.

“I have to admit, the Daintree Truffle is my absolute favourite chocolate. It’s great to have chocolate that is grown in Australia complement our award winning range made with Belgian chocolate,” Bracegirdle’s House of Fine Chocolate owner Sue Bracegirdle says.

“We take great pride that our chocolate range is completely handmade and has no preservatives. Bracegirdle’s chocolatiers create our products locally at our Clarence Gardens headquarters using the finest Belgian chocolate, Australian chocolate and premium fresh ingredients,” she says.

“We are always taking our customers on an exciting chocolate journey offering a variety of chocolates with different and unique flavours. The challenge for us, is to come up with something new.

“Our team are very passionate, dedicated and creative in making new chocolates, we are so very proud of them.”

Bracegirdle’s claimed six Top Gold medals, including 11 Gold medals, at this year’s Royal Adelaide Show.

Bracegirdle’s 10 year anniversary gift box – a selection of old and new favourites took out Top Gold as well as Fig and Ginger, Siesta – a lime and salted caramel ganache, Peppermint Tea and Lemon Myrtle chocolates.

Newly released products including Peanut and Orange Caramel Bar and Spicy Peanut Chilli chocolate also received Gold medals.

“This year we are celebrating a great milestone, our 10th anniversary. We opened Bracegirdle’s at Glenelg on Jetty Road in 2005 and we have since expanded to also have cafes at Toorak Gardens, McLaren Vale, Marion and Clarence Gardens with 100 employees.”

“We are excited to have many of our winning entries available for purchase at each of our five Bracegirdle’s cafes.”

Bracegirdle’s winning chocolates will be on display in the Dairy Hall during this year’s Royal Adelaide
Show from 4 September until 13 September.

The handmade chocolate maker was also judged best chocolate in Australia earlier this year at the Sydney Royal Easter Show for its Fig and Ginger chocolate.

A South Australian owned and operated family business, Bracegirdle’s is Australia’s most awarded chocolate maker after also having major wins for its chocolate products during 2015, 2014, 2013 and 2012 in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide.
