A Star Filled Line Up Set To Dazzle At This Year’s Carols By Candlelight

Get your singing voices ready, the carols are almost here…

Get your singing voices ready, the Santa hats on and the candles ready to sway, the countdown is on to the 2015 Woolworths Carols by Candlelight! Novita Children’s Services is delighted to announce the launch of the Carols which are proudly presented by the Adelaide City Council and the Sunday Mail.

The program and artist lineup for this year’s event has been released with well-known and loved performers: Anthony Callea, Rhonda Burchmore, Nathaniel and Samantha Jade set to be part of the stellar line up, which also includes the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, Peter Combe & The Theatre Bugs and a number of talented local performers and community choirs.

Following the tradition, this year’s event will be held at Elder Park, on the banks of the Torrens on Sunday, December 13, 2015; with all proceeds going to Novita’s Christmas Appeal titled, ‘Wish upon a Novita Star’, to fund the expansion of the organisation’s toy library.

“We all wish for things, particularly around Christmas time. Some children wish to play with a toy – something most of us take for granted – but for a number of our kids, playing can be very difficult,” said Novita Chief Executive Officer Glenn Rappensberg.

“Our toy library offers specially constructed or modified toys for children living with disability; not only offering them the joy of playing, but also supporting their development and learning.”

“These toys are available to be borrowed by anyone who needs them, but we simply don’t have enough and we urgently need to expand our selection of toys and games to meet the needs of all the kids in the growing Novita community.”

Mr Rappensberg said that, owing to Novita’s long-term involvement with Carols by Candlelight, they had a clear vision when it was handed control of the 2015 event.

“Christmas is all about family, community, sharing and tradition,” said Mr Rappensberg,

“And we’re incredibly grateful to Woolworths, our naming partner and the generosity of the other sponsors and supporters; without whom this South Aussie tradition simply would not be possible”.

“This year we’re looking forward to fun family activities during the day, outstanding artists performing Christmas carols in the evening and ending with our traditional fireworks”.

Mr Rappensberg promised the afternoon would offer plenty to keep kids entertained in the lead up to the official carols performance, including a family movie for all to enjoy on the big screen – the Christmas family classic ‘Home Alone’.

For those who prefer not to sit on the ground, a limited number of fundraising Gold Class tickets will be available for sale via the website.

“We hope that the South Australian community will enjoy our wonderful, traditional family event, and will get behind our Appeal to further build our toy library and buy more toys for children living with disabilities, helping Novita to make their wishes come true all year round.”
