A Fresh New Feel For The Holdy

The Holdfast Hotel has undergone a refurbishment, respecting the venue’s history as a bayside institution with a new nautical and industrial feel.

The Holdfast Hotel, both semi-officially and casually, referred to as The Holdy has undergone a more contemporary refurbishment, encompassing all areas of the business, but most notably the Street Bar, aptly named for its Brighton Road facing view.

The canvas and industrial metal décor with the armchairs and side tables, respectively, suitably demonstrate how the historic nautical elements are weaved into the modern renovation. To realise this cutting edge eclectic vision the interior designers at ABEO Designs & Studio Nine were called upon and the results are, to say the least, impressive.

Speaking of bringing different worlds together, the venue’s chefs are from different parts of the world and this is a big selling point for the bar. From the duck and chicken baos, to the more authentic spring rolls, the vegetarian gnocchi, Balinese chicken rice and the (Peking) Duck pancakes, the venue is adamant about its departure from standard pub fare. By the same token, the food is casual, perhaps tricked up a little, but definitely designed to be a better version of pub fare.

The cocktail list is one of the more unique ones around Adelaide, with the blue Smooth Sailor reflecting the nautical theme, the hard lemonade, the pick me up and the flora and fauna which came in what looked like a metal can, definitely taking a departure from your standard martinis and long island iced teas.

Well worth the trip down Brighton Road, irrespective of the weather.
