A Cracking Opening Weekend For Haçienda

The newest residents of Synagogue Place, Haçienda, more than matched the adrenaline that preceded their opening with their first 48 hours. See the full gallery here.

From a midweek work site to a packed house in under 72 hours. The newest residents of Synagogue Place, Haçienda, certainly live life on the edge. The adrenaline that preceded their opening, was matched by their first 48 hours as the doors swung open Friday night to officially christen front bar Dim Dooleys, before the people of Adelaide streamed in to bring the full complex to life on the Saturday. The full family of Mary’s Poppin, Dim and the main club were embraced by punters eager to see the realised vision of international designer Michael Delaney sits, alongside owner and director Terry Board, Venue Manager Chris Iommazzo and Partner Tim Klaosen.

Truthfully, the small bar expansion of Adelaide is still making it’s mark around the Rundle Mall precinct, and for that reason Dim Dooleys will certainly have plenty to offer punters in the immediate area midweek. Beyond being an addition to the club space, it revealed itself on Friday as having a distinct and intimate atmosphere that marks it as a midweek destination in its own right. The private lounge to the back of the main bar adds an extra element to the high table, more traditional social bar feel, with Delaney’s vision of “Dim as this Dutch Scottish fisherman, a hoarder who’s collected things from his travels, from magazine of naked women to nick nacks from every corner of the globe,” clearly evident, with the story told all around the bar upon the walls.

Haçienda club, meanwhile, has delivered on its promise to combine a drinkers lounge with a club space. The newly minted dance floor pole ads a sense of trash-baggery in the best possible sense, a tie in to the frivolity and ‘anything goes’ vibe of Mary’s Poppin’ upstairs. The upstairs mezzanine is a throwback to 90s club floor watching and a nod to the 30 year history of the venue while opening up to a beer garden that helps to provide respite to the overall space which Dim’s struggles to when at peak capacity.

Miss the opening weekend? Not to worry, there’s the next one coming up soon (and a long weekend at that!): Here’s our gallery from the Friday opening of Dim’s to share what you can expect:
