2012 KESAB Sustainable Cities SA Winner Announced

KESAB environmental solutions are pleased to announce the City of Tea Tree Gully as the winner of the South Australian Sustainable Cities Award for 2012.

KESAB received a number of outstanding entries from metropolitan councils for the 2012 Sustainable Cities Awards, and following assessment of all of the entries determined the City of Tea Tree Gully as the overall winner.

Sustainable Cities Awards showcase environmental actions and case studies of real environmental example as councils target less waste, carbon emissions, energy reduction and long-term sustainability and working in partnership with the Government, business and community.

Sustainable Cities judging categories include: water, energy, waste, biodiversity, community engagement, natural environment, education, innovation and the values of culture and heritage.

KESAB Sustainable Programs Manager, Ms Alex Hammett said “The City of Tea Tree Gully entered an impressive submission with a range of sustainability initiatives in each of the categories. A vast level of community engagement and partnerships highlighted the importance of council’s work with the community to secure a sustainable future for the City of Tea Tree Gully. KESAB looks forward to supporting the City of Tea Tree Gully to showcase its best initiatives to impress the National Judge.”

The City of Tea Tree Gully will go on to represent South Australia in the National Keep Australia Beautiful Sustainable Cities Awards. National Judging will take place on Wednesday August 29 with the National Judge, Lynn Sorrell, spending the day in the Tea Tree Gully where they will showcase the initiatives from their submission (Judge’s biography attached)
