Lonely Planet Names Adelaide As Australia’s Live Music City

Adelaide has been included on the list featuring 52 weekends of culture heaven by Lonely Planet, for being Australia’s Live Music City!

It’s true, we’re on ANOTHER list. Lonely Planet certainly LOVES Adelaide of late, and who can blame them? After our West End took out Lonely Planet’s Coolest Aussie Neighbourhood, and South Australia Scored 5th In Lonely Planet’s 2017 Top 10 Travel Regions, a new accolade has been added to the list.

Adelaide has been included on the list featuring 52 weekends of culture heaven by Lonely Planet. And it’s not for our incredible festival scene, our amazing arts organisations, or our jam-packed calendar of events. It’s because we’ve been recognised as Australia’s Live Music City!

From our laneway parties featuring fabulous live acts like French star Fefe, our malls full of buskers, the world-recognised wonder of WOMADelaide, to our live music scene and bars and pubs, Adelaide has a thriving live music scene.

A swag of huge concerts in the city of late has also helped get us across the line, with Botanic Park hosting big names like Cat Stevens/Yusef and Stevie Nicks, while Adelaide Oval has showcased artists like Adele.

And let’s not forget the music legends who hail from Adelaide – like Sia, the Screaming Jets, Hilltop Hoods, Superjesus and Cold Chisel.

While there’s always room to improve, we’re pretty proud of the latest recognition, that continues to prove that Adelaide is a destination worth putting on everybody’s list.
