Plenty of us have been getting creative of late using up gluts of strawberries, but this may be the best use yet.

Inner city brewery Lady Burra has made strawberry beer!

Not only is it unique and delicious, the beer is also in aid of Australian farmers.

Since starting as Head Brewer in August this year, Eliot Kirby has had a strong vision for the Lady Burra brand; one which puts an emphasis on supporting local suppliers by incorporating seasonal fruits into the brewing process.

Created by Lady Burra Brewhouse Head Brewer, Eliot, the beer has been made with a combination of the brewery’s session ale and blended strawberries.

“We added 20 kilos of fresh strawberries to a brew of session ale after four days of primary fermentation,” says Eliot Kirby.

“The process creates a brew featuring a strong strawberry nose, which is mildly bitter, with a refreshing strawberry tartness and a creamy finish. It is the perfect beer for the warmer weather!”

From every pint of Strawberry Beer sold over the bar, Lady Burra Brewhouse will donate $1 to Aussie Helpers, a Queensland based charity established to help fight poverty and lift the spirits of those severely affected by the drought in Australia.

Lady Burra Brewhouse’s Strawberry Beer is available on tap for a limited time from Friday 19th October 2018 at 4 Topham Mall, Adelaide.
