La Soiree - The English GentsPresented by La Soirée Australia
Reviewed Thursday 15th March 2012

The extended, sold out season of La Soirée (formerly La Clique) is a showcase of extraordinary acrobatic, musical and exotic talent. Fans of the former La Clique circus cabaret will know what to expect with this new show, featuring nine artists with old and new acts.

Le Gateau Chocolat is a baritone as big in voice as he is in stature, while Yulia Pykhtina is a seductress with hula hoops. Denis Lock and Hamish McCann return as the handsome English Gents, two stalwarts of La Clique displaying extraordinary feats of strength and balance. Also returning to the tent are sexy Susannah Martinez with her disappearing hanky striptease, and poster boy David O’Mer with his dripping bathtub aerial ballet.

The show is littered with great comedy but none is more appealing than camp juggler Mario, “Queen of the Circus”; the slapstick antics of rubber man Captain Froddo; and the quirky “dramatic artiste” Mooky.

If you’ve been unfortunate enough to miss out on La Soirée, add it to the top of your list for future tours. It never disappoints.
