IKEA to host local Farmers Market

Farmers MarketIKEA is giving local food producers and boutique businesses the chance to share in its 4th birthday celebrations by hosting a Farmers Market on Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 April.

The plaza at the front of the store will be transformed into a bustling market square and will showcase a number of local businesses and give them the opportunity to sell their products to IKEA shoppers.

Among those who’ve signed up for the market are Barossa Fine Foods, Smoothey Revolution, The Funky Closet and Swedish Tarts.

Also, in attendance will be HeartKids SA, IKEA Adelaide’s chosen charity.

They will be at the market to promote the organisation, which raises money and provides support for families of ill children needing serious heart surgery. They will also run a FREE colouring competition for kids.

Entertainment in the form of a live band, a kids merry-go-round and face painters will provide additional colour to the market.

IKEA Adelaide Store Manager, Ms Agneta Simon, said we have thousands of shoppers passing through our doors every weekend and this will give the market stall holders a chance to attract new customers.”

“The market is also great way to heighten our customer’s experience of a store visit and will complement other in-store initiatives being run to celebrate our birthday.”

The market is one of a series of events and activities being run at the store between April 17 and 24 to celebrate IKEA Adelaide’s 4th birthday. The store turns four on April 20.

Other activities include kid’s birthday games in the store’s Playroom, weekend gift card giveaways, free birthday cake for store visitors on April 24 and daily special retail offers. For more information, visit www.IKEA.com.au
