Humphrey is Back

Humphrey B. Bear is back from hibernation and ready to relaunch his career as Australia’s favourite bear.

The Women’s & Children’s Hospital Foundation – the official charity of the Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Adelaide – has announced a long term partnership with Australia’s favourite “funny old fellow”- Humphrey B Bear.

Sam Tolley, WCH Foundation CEO says the partnership is an exciting one, given Humphrey’s iconic status.

“Humphrey has been entertaining children for almost 45 years before he went into hibernation. Now, after three years out of the spotlight, he is back and ready to entertain a new generation of children, and bring a smile to kid’s faces, especially the sick kids in Hospital.

“The partnership with the Women’s & Children’s Hospital Foundation will see Humphrey take on the role of Ambassabear, helping the Foundation to raise money to support the women, babies and sick children at the Women’s & Children’s Hospital. The only thing he can’t do is speaking engagements!  He’ll leave that up to his best friend Amber Brown”

Humphrey first featured on television in 1965 in South Australia and has since become a National Icon.

He is one of the most successful children’s pre-schooler brands in Australian television history having one of the longest running children’s television programs in the world.  Humphrey was so popular; Australia Post even put him on a postage stamp.

Humphrey’s first official outing – now that he is out of hibernation – will be performing live at the Women’s & Children’s Hospital Foundation’s Mothers May in the Mall event
