Heiniger Balaklava Cup raises the style stakes

South Australia’s largest and most vibrant country racing event is back, and the style stakes have never been higher as the event hosts its very own Fashions on the Field competition with a prize pool of over $10,000.

More than 6,000 racegoers are expected to flock to this year’s Heiniger Balaklava Cup on Wednesday 12 September for a huge day of racing, food, wine and fabulous fashion… all just over an hour’s drive from Adelaide.

This year’s face of the Cup has been named as local fashionista and racing lover, Izzy O’Loughlin, who said the Heiniger Balaklava Cup is a must-do for anyone looking for a great event to kick off the spring season.

“There’s something special about country racing, I just love the fun, relaxed atmosphere,” Izzy said. “I’ve heard that Balaklava is a great day out. For me, it brings together everything I love about racing – bold fashion, a love of horses and a serious party atmosphere.

“I’m particularly excited about the Fashions on the Field competition. Racing outfits are in a league of their own as far as fashion goes, so I can’t wait to see what everyone is wearing. I’m hoping to see some statement accessories – I think they can really make an outfit.”

This year’s Cup also boasts a bigger and better hospitality offering, including ‘The Ring’ – an exciting new package located in the betting ring, right at the heart of the racing action.

The $145pp ticket price includes entry to the exclusive location and beer garden, as well as a gourmet BBQ and drinks package.

Balaklava Racing Club Chairman Wayne Henson said the hospitality packages are a big part of what makes the Heiniger Balaklava Cup such a success with corporate groups.

“The Cup is really the perfect event for corporate entertainment – what better way to spend a Wednesday afternoon than letting your hair down with colleagues, clients and friends in a beautiful country setting?” Mr Henson said.

“As one of South Australia’s premier country thoroughbred race meetings, we pride ourselves on offering the very best in hospitality and atmosphere to our racegoers.”

Return buses will be available from various Adelaide locations, as well as Clare, Salisbury, Gawler and Mallala.
