Botanic Garden Restaurant – With picturesque views of the Adelaide Botanic Gardens enjoy a luxurious New Year’s Eve at Botanic Gardens Restaurant. The Sailing Club – They’ll be dropping anchor and coming ashore to everyone’s favourite beachside destination, Victor Harbour at Soldiers Memorial Gardens! Elder Park – It’s the biggest party in town and it’s all free! Celebrate in the electric atmosphere with entertainment to suit the young and young at heart. It’s the ultimate party with live music, amazing food, a range of beverages, children’s entertainment and of course the show-stopping fireworks. The party starts at 6pm with the first fireworks at 9pm before the main show lights up the sky at midnight!

Glenelg – Head to the beach for a New Year’s Eve celebration out in the balmy Summer’s breeze. The foreshore comes alive every year with free live entertainment, children’s activities and the spectacular fireworks display at 9:30pm and midnight to kick off 2017. This year expect performances from the Potbelleez, DJ Jacki J, Jinx and Katie Wright.

Normanville New Year’s Eve Pageant – New Year’s Eve 2017 will mark the 20th year anniversary for the Normanville annual pageant! 40 colourful floats to wind through the streets at 7:30pm, ending at the beautiful Normanville foreshore by 8pm. The foreshore will liven up with a DJ, amusements and delicious food for the local community clubs and groups. Finishing the night’s festivities is a stellar fireworks display at 10pm.

Victor Harbour’s River Gum Homes New Year’s Eve Celebrations – Head down to Victor Harbour to celebrate the biggest night of the year starting at 7:30pm on Warland Reserve. There will be fun family entertainment including free face painting, a petting zoo and performances from Humphrey B Bear and Noises for Kids. Enjoy the kid’s early fireworks at 9:45pm, followed the midnight fireworks spectacular.

Public Transport

All Adelaide Metro buses, trains and trams will be FREE on New Years Eve from 5pm until dawn on New Years Day. More information and updated timetables can be found here. 

Temporary Road Closures

City of Adelaide
Between 12pm on Sunday 31 December and 3am on Monday 1 January 2018, the following roads will be closed:

  • Victoria Drive between Kintore Avenue and King William Road
  • King William Road between North Terrace and War Memorial Drive
  • King William Street between North Terrace and Currie Street

City of Holdfast Bay

Road closures and speed restrictions will apply to Jetty Road, Colley Terrace and adjacent side streets from 6pm until around 4am, including:

  • AUGUSTA ST GLENELG, between Colley Tce and Torrens Square
  • COLLEY TCE GLENELG, between Anzac Hwy and Jetty Rd
  • DURHAM ST GLENELG, between Dutton Lane and Jetty Rd
  • HIGH ST GLENELG, between Moseley St and Partridge St
  • JETTY RD GLENELG, between Colley Tce & Brighton Rd
  • MAXWELL TCE GLENELG, between Brighton Rd and Malcolm St

The following roads will be temporarily closed from 9pm until 1.30am:

  • Esplanade between Hall St and South Tce
  • Semaphore Rd at Military Rd

  • Coppin St – no right hand turn into Esplanade
  • Newmans St – no right hand turn into Esplanade
  • Blackler St – no right hand turn
  • Swan St – closed at Military Rd
  • Cave St – no left turn into Esplanade
  • Dunn St – No left turn into Esplanade
