After a sellout in Melbourne in 2013, popular wine event Game of Rhones will expand to Adelaide and Brisbane before returning to Melbourne in 2014.

Game of Rhones is a combative celebration of the classic grape varieties of the Rhone Valley in France. Think Shiraz, Grenache, Mourvedre, Carignan, Cinsault, Viognier, Marsanne and Roussane to name just a few.

Game of Rhones Adelaide will be held at Published Arts House on Saturday May 24 with local and interstate producers such as Shaw + Smith, Torbreck, D’Arenberg, Dalwhinnie, Voyager Estate and Eden Road among many others on display.

Wine lovers will have the opportunity to taste and choose their favourite variety, style and region at this interactive showcase with votes being cast on iPads throughout venue.

With over 40 producers and 100 wines available to taste, the range of styles, character and diversity will be an all out assault on the senses. Brilliant producers from all corners of Australia as well as New Zealand will be on show. There will also be wines from ‘Beyond the Wall’ – like the Rhone Valley (of course!), the USA and more.
In the ‘torture chamber’, a highlight of 2013, a room of willing participants are blindfolded for tastings, and there will once again be a prize for best-dressed winemaker. There could be a few Joffrey’s and a handful of Khaleesi’s wandering around with glass in hand.
The 2014 Game of Rhones series will see hunger pains relieved with suitably hearty fare on offer from local food truck Delectaballs plus local beer and cider producers Swell and B-Cider.
