Zach Zucker – Remember that name, because hopefully we will be hearing it and seeing him at many, many more Adelaide Fringes to come.

Zach first appeared last year teaming up with Australian comedic clown Tom Walker (Tom and Zach Are Best Friends) and this year with Norwegian clown Viggo Venn (Zach& Viggo: Thunderflop). Also this year, Zucker has decided to attempt flying solo, in his one-man comedy show,Zach Zucker: Human Person.

The audience is urged to cajole Zucker on to the stage (non-existent) as he is rather shy or precious or both, apparently. Do it, otherwise you’ll miss out on this very funny young man.

He is a first rate comedic clown in all respects: perfect comic timing, likable personality, expressive face, fantastic energy and physicality, and can work an audience brilliantly.

It’s always hard to review shows such as this one that involve skits and jokes – you don’t want to give anything away. Let’s just say that Zucker is very good at doorbell ringing (showing off his ad-libbing ability to it’s fullest); and having introduced Adelaide last year to Braaaaad The Arktor, this year we meet Theatre Man (and meet him, and meet him…). Theatre Man in particular showcases Zucker’s rubbery physicality and gift for delivering great character voices.

As this is his first time solo, the show is a little bit uneven and unsure of itself in places (not many), but this is certain to improve as the season settles in. This type of performance evolves with its many different audiences.

Zach Zucker may be a human person, but he is also a very talented, funny person.
