Fringe News: Livvy & Pete

Fans of vintage Australian popular music will relish Livvy & Pete, a celebration of the music of Olivia Newton-John and Peter Allen, two of Australia’s greatest musical exports and icons.

The show has been lovingly created by the Helpmann award recipient Michael Griffiths and cabaret star Amelia Ryan and comes to Adelaide for one night only after a raft of sell out shows throughout Australia.

In addition to the sublime range of memorable and iconic songs, the show runs through the history of Newton-John and Allen’s small town upbringing to their rise to global stardom and mass popularity.

Griffiths says the music has become part of the fabric of Australian culture: “these are songs we all know and love from two national treasures. And who can resist singing along to I Go To Rio, Xanadu, I Still Call Australia Home or Hopelessly Devoted to You?”

Amelia Ryan loves the the art direction of the show, noting that “with rollerskates, maracas, Pink Ladies, 80s
jazzercise and an Oscar winning song to boot, it’s as colourful and camp as you can get.”

Griffiths and Ryan have appeared in cabaret festivals across Australia and have performed in London, New York and the Edinburgh Fringe to rave reviews and standing ovations.

With such rich content, expect this show to sell out, so we’d suggest getting tickets as early as possible.

Livvy & Pete, the songs of Olivia Newton John and Peter Allen is on for one night only on 26 March 2017 at Fortuna Spiegeltent at The Garden of Unearthly Delights.
