Adelaide Fashion Festival

First Tickets Released For 2017 Adelaide Fashion Festival Runways

South Australian designers to shine on Adelaide Fashion Festival runway.

Feminine lines, custom accessories and contemporary glamour created by South Australian designers will dominate the opening runways at Adelaide Fashion Festival presented by Mercedes-Benz Adelaide.

The two runway shows on Thursday 12 October will have a strictly South Australian aesthetic, with all looks being presented by local designers, jewellers and milliners.

Tickets are on sale now.

The Contemporary v Street: A South Australian Showcase and Couture Culture events will be the first runways for 2017 at the festival’s new home, the Torrens Parade Ground Drill Hall.

Established favourites such as Acler, The Daily Edited, Naomi Murrell, GretaKate and Couture+Love+Madness will feature alongside brands making their debut including Binny, Cinquante, Ashlee Lauren and Varacalli Couture.

AFF creative director Chris Kontos said it was wonderful to celebrate so much local talent through two dynamic shows on one evening.

“We wanted the first runway shows for 2017 to showcase our bold, innovative and unique designers who drive our local fashion industry 365 days a year,” Kontos said.

“Adelaide is home to such a diverse range of designers and brands, it will be exciting to see them side-by-side, representing South Australia, a state that is a true hub of creativity.”

Today the AFF also unveils its campaign for 2017 featuring Finesse Models’ Akiima as the face and imagery shot by revered fashion photographer Georges Antoni (The Artist Group).

The concept was developed by Cul-de-sac Creative and the Festival’s creative and management team and is inspired by South Australian modernist abstract artists such as Sydney Ball, Peter Cole and Marnie Gilder.

Akiima, 22, signed with Finesse in early 2017 has since walked runways for powerhouse international brands including Hermes and Elsa Schiaparelli at Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week.

“In 2017 we wanted to take AFF in a bold and artistic direction and this campaign embodies that perfectly,” Kontos said.

“AFF is always looking to showcase South Australian talent… Adelaide is an inspiring city so we always have plenty to draw from when we’re planning our campaign and program.”
