Ahead of Tea Tree Plaza’s $50 million renovations grand opening on Thursday and the ensuing festive weekend, Glam Adelaide was able to get inside the hotly anticipated venue, The Bavarian, to show you what you can expect.

The venue is hosting a huge Oktoberfest weekend and we can’t think of a better place to celebrate the German festival. The Bavarian has a whopping 400 seat capacity (so you can invite the whole extended family) and a few more.

With 17 beers on tap, including imported Bavarian favourites Lowenbrau, Franziskaner, Stiegl and Hofbrau, local and regional craft brews and a house range by Urban Craft Brewing Co. You’ll spend the weekend dancing to an Oompah band before (probably not after) committing to eating competitions.

Because, believe it or not, The Bavarian is giving away 500 free hotdogs from 11am Thursday!

If you miss the hotdogs, you can opt for German classics like Crackling Pork Belly, Crispy Pork Knuckle and the famous Bavarian tasting platters. Everything is beer drinking companion food and best of all, their giant pretzels are baked on site so they’re warm and salty upon purchase.

Festivities will start on Thursday and continue to Saturday. Sunday is family day because the Bavarian has revealed that going forward there’ll be face painters and activities for families, and kids eat free!

When you’re there you can’t miss the beer chandelier, a one of a kind creation just for Bavarian restaurants. It’s an eye-catching stein chandelier featuring over 500 1-litre glass steins above the bar.

It might put you in the mood for a one litre glass boot, appropriately titled ‘Das Boot’ which you can fill with your choice of craft beer, cider, or german beer for $23.50, or strong beer for $26.

Groups can try the Beer Tube, a two-litre tube that’s made to be shared with friends for $45, filled with craft beer or cider (the boot is for your personal drinking pleasure).

This is what you’ll be seeing soon:

All in all, it’s not the place for a diet but it’s the place to check out this weekend with the new TTP revamp.
